[COLOR=orange-red]Do you think someone could sneak to Tom Sawyers island or hide in a thick grown up area in the Magic Kingdom after hours without getting caught? Or do they check every square inch of Disney?

They do a pretty good job sweeping the park each night. I'm sure they know all the popular hiding spots.

No doubt there've been people who've slipped through, but what's there to do at night? Everything's closed, and emerging from your hiding spot would likely get you spotted by a maintenance person or security. Might be exciting for a bit, but I think it would turn boring pretty quickly.

There was a thread on this not too long ago...the short answer is yes, but it's not worth it. Two guys died after hanging out on TSI and then trying to swim back after hours a few years back.

Well, wouldn't the raft thingys be shut down with the park?? lol.. Then they'd either have to be stranded on that island until the park opens or... swim... which I wouldn't recommend, lol.

it's true...

IMO, drowning isn't worth free disney after hours.

plus, it's not like you could do anything... everything would be closed, and there'd be CM's all over you the second you try to get out of you hiding area.

I think there should be a after hours tour...just so prove to the world that its boring has heck after hours and nothing is work...

But not to give and ideas how but maintenance guys are usually the coolest people on earth. They will start to show you around if they find you, just so you don't get yourself hurt. Security on the other hand can be a pain. I remember when we were waiting for the test firing of Wishes and they tried to kick us out. We just went to Tommrowland Training (same building as time keeper) and chilled there for 30 minutes and then went back out there and he was gone :p

Haha, that'd be weird staying at Disney after closings I know I wouldn't want to, but it would be cool to say you stayed the night there:snore:..Hey--you could even be first in a line, lol!! Do you think they'd kick you out of Disney if they found out you were hiding there through the night?

Please tell me that these guys were drunk or stoned out of their minds or else they were horribly out of shape. Couldn't swim off the island? :hammer:

Pretty sure they'd kick you out - they're not about to let anyone enter the park for FREE!

IMO They sweep the island first, and shut down the rafts half an hour before park closing time...

My sentiments EXACTLY!! I mean I'm no athlete but how could you possibly drown swimming that distance?? Unless of course you don't know how to swim, but I can't imagine the waters being that deep.

Drowing Details

See http://www.snopes.com/disney/parks/deaths.htm for full listings.

"June 1973: Bogden Delaurot, an 18-year-old Brooklyn resident, drowned trying to swim across the Rivers of America. Delaurot and his 10-year-old brother managed to stay on Tom Sawyer Island past its dusk closing time by climbing the fence separating the island from the burning settlers' cabin. When they decided to leave the island a few hours later, they chose to swim across the river rather than call attention to their rule-breaking by appealing to cast members for help. Because the younger brother did not know how to swim, Delaurot tried to carry him on his back as he swam to shore. Bogden Delaurot went down about halfway across the river. The younger boy remained afloat by dogpaddling until a ride operator hauled him aboard a boat, but Bogden was nowhere to be found. His body was not located by searchers until the next morning."

That's still weird how that guy could die just by having his little brother on his back...Yes, drunk indeed, seems to me...What was that guy thinking?!?!? Bet his little brother regreted that move, staying there then having his brother die:brick:
