Good Morning Folks.I had friends who arrived unexpected last night and asked me for my advice. They are planning their first trip ever to WDW in 2014. They haven't booked anywhere yet,but have £5000 ($7500) saved for 14 nights. Now it's two adults plus one 5 year old girl and one 7 year old girl. They want to go to a moderate to qualify for the free Q/S dining plan.Anyway, they looked at the brochures and loved all the themes for the value resorts, like Pop Century,All Stars etc,& AoA. But they asked me what moderate has the best, how can I put this,Kiddie theme like place to stay. Since they have two little girls,I was thinking of recommending a Royal room at my beloved PORS. Now I haven't seen inside the Royal rooms, only watched a video, but for anyone out there who has had a stay in any of these rooms.Do you think girls aged 6 & 8 ( that will be their age next year ) would appreciate them. When I told my friends about these new Royal rooms they went ballistic as they never knew they existed, but I'd hate to recommend them and its not worth the extra $$$$. So I'am now asking for advice..What are your thoughts?

My first thought is how much extra is a Royal room per night? Depending upon the answer, and if they get the free dining, I would think it would be something they can budget for and be so cool.

Dont be afraid to ask at check in too. We received a free upgrade to a Royal room at PORS last year during Memorial day weekend. The only was that it is far from the main building and pool. I was not expecting or asking for a free room upgrade I asked if any were available and if so what the cost would be. The CM was looking at the screen and said oh well Tiana called and already indicated she wanted you and your family to stay in one of her special rooms. My 4 y/o daughter was thrilled.

It's worth it. They will love the details. Even the faucets were shaped like genie lamps. The headboard has a scene on it that lights up. It's very cool. The youngest in our group was 16, and we all loved those rooms.
Even the cover for the air conditioning unit matches the theme.
