Now most folk on here know my love for Riverside, but thanks to Crush Dude,( yes he posted this morning ) Free DDP has been announced for 2014. Now Oceans Florida are the first out the trap flying with Virgin but for July the CBR is £359 cheaper than PORS. Gobsmacked as CBR is usually the dearest of the 4 mods. Our first trip in 2004 was at CBR ( one week ) so I really can't remember much about it..So has anyone been to CBR recently and how did you enjoy it.?

The reason I never ever fancied the CS was I heard it gets used for conventions and the food court has a server? Is this right? Or am I dreaming again.

Regarding the server, a charge is added to the bill for the service. But you mentioned Free DDP in your original post. This charge is covered by a Quick Service credit. I have always enjoyed Pepper Market, as it feels like you are getting a TS meal for a QS credit.

I believe Buzz's site has a link to a page that list the scheduled conventions at Coronado.

Don't be put off by the whole convention thing. It just means less Wee Bairns than some other resorts.as for the Resteraunt there is a good choice at cafe rix for brekkie/cawfee .

In another thread, you talked about your love affair with PORS. Now, you're talking Coronado? I am sending this message to PORS and she will make you rue the day. My goodness but you're fickle. You truly are Mad.
Not so.I was asked to check out CS by another member..I do love PORS and after weighing up the cost versus resort it looks like PORS will get my money. And your quite right.I am as mad as a hatter.

Unless you pay extra for one of the preferred rooms, it's a bus ride or long walk to the main building and pool.

We HATED CBR its so spread out you actually need to get on an internal bus to get to the food court, main pool

This is not necessarily true. We stayed there in October 2009 and December 2013, and loved it. Both times we requested a standard room "in the Aruba or Jamaica buildings near the footbridge." If you are close to the footbridge, it is less than a 5 minute walk to the food court and main pool, plus you get a beautiful view of the whole resort from the foot bridge. We love CBR for the theming as well. The steel drum music is a great touch, and it's nice to relax in a hammock on the "beach."

A few months ago, I started a thread asking folks to vote for their favorite Moderate Resort. CBR came in a very distant 4th behind all the other Moderates.:(

It's been a number of years since we last stayed there but we did stop by the food court last year and drove around a bit. They redid the main pool some and added a number of pirate themed rooms (which I haven't seen) but, otherwise, I suspect it's pretty much the same as it was in 2004.

As the first Moderate Resort, CBR suffers from its layout. Unless you pay extra for one of the preferred rooms, it's a bus ride or long walk to the main building and pool. For my family, that's a pretty big turn-off which is why we stayed there only once. (I think in 2001 but after enough trips, they all sort of blur together.:)) At least the centrally located pool at POR is easier to reach and acts as a bridge for some of the more remote rooms.

There's a reason CBR is £359 cheaper than PORS.;)

We stayed at CBR for a week in 2009 (Aruba, just across the island from Centre Town) and had a great time, clean room, and enjoyed the pool and food court. When we visited WDW the next summer we wanted a new experience and stayed at POR for 5 days. For one meal, we went back over to CBR just to "check on the place". We were not overly impressed. It wasn't a bad experience by any means, but I think it had sort of lost some of its magic compared to POR.

We stayed @ CBR in 2010 for my Mom's 70th birthday, and we had a blast! The food @ Shutters was just ok @ best, but it was convenient. The rooms are small, but the pool area is very nice. I liked going over the bridge each day and saying hi! to the turtles and fish!:) if you ask for a room closer to the restaurant area, then they will try to acommodate you.;) The only draw backs are the buses and the fact that you check in at another building. So... I kinda liked it.

an aside:

the one thing I was told about the buses into CBR (by one of the drivers)was that there are three entrances to the resort. As such, there is no guarantee that one "island" will always be first to drop-off/pick-up.

I absolutely love CSR. If that's an option for you, I chose that over CBR anyday of the week. I too was worried about staying there in the past b/c it is a convention resort and b/c it was SO BIG. I never had an issue with either and I have stayed there 4 times now. The grounds are beautiful, the Dig Site Pool is awesome and the resort is so conveniently located to all the parks that bus rides are not long at all. Transportation to and from the resorts was good too. We have been lucky enough to get rooms in the Cabana section of the resort that was centrally located to El Centro, the pool and the bus stop. CSR is alway one of my first choices of resorts to stay at.

She never quoted me on CS ?? Iam swaying on sticking to my beloved PORS.
If you are not pulled to try something new, id say stick with what you are most comfortable with. And this advice comes from someone who moves around all of the time. We lean to some of our favorites, but unlike you, i dont have that must resort yet. i like YC and GF more than the others, but even so, id stay at a moderate and love it if it meant that is what it takes to stay longer. If you love PORS (and I know you do!) stay put unless you are reallt drawn to something. Whatever you choose, youll have a great time.

PORS all the way. We will not stay at CBR again until they remodel. Even the pirate rooms were worn and nasty, and they weren't that old. When people say their room was clean, I can't imagine how that happened. We kept giving it a chance because we love how close it is to DHS and Epcot, and it's really pretty, but we couldn't take the worn out dirty rooms anymore. We'll be back at PORS next trip since we won't need a suite, well, I don't think we'll need a suite. That could always change.

I would pay the extra... You would have waited 2 years for this trip... PORS is your home. It wil not feel the same anywhere else! Plus they do not have Magic Cookie Bars there!!! :)
Totally agree. Having stayed at both CBR and PORS and visited Coronado, YOU should definitely stick with POR...no doubt about it. Knowing what you love about POR, I can't think of anything at the other resorts that will make you feel anything like you feel at POR. You already know you thoroughly enjoy POR. If you are planning on staying within the moderates, stick with what you know. ;)
