I believe that was the year that Planet Hollywood was started.

DisneyInsider said:The guest areas are for the most part ok. They didn't get damaged too bad and whatver is damaged gets fixed quickly. Areas that have lots of trees are where you can see the problems. If you ride the monorail you can see the areas where the trees were destroyed and Disney hasn't been able to (or just isn't going to) clean up yet.

I would like to know what WDW does to secure the hundreds of boats that they have for oncoming hurricanes, or during the storm.
Also, I was curious if there was any flooding around the property, especially around Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon, and around the Contemporary. Did anyone stay at the Contemporary? If so, were the top floors off limits? And what did it sound like on the Grand Canyon Concourse (Floor 4)? Just curious.
Any other interesting stories from on-property?
mkt said:The majority of the damage is primarily to the trees/foliage in the parks. There was probably some roof damage across property as well. WDW does prepare for these things more than other companies, so they're fairly well protected. Here are some photos of the preparation/damage from the last few hurricanes.

Forget the date on the shirts (I see old dates on many new t-shirts nowadays), and forget also about the plastic bag... what on earth are those mannequins doing behind a glass that is not covered or protected? What´s the point of covering them with plastic? If the glass breaks and the water comes in, the bag won´t save them at all! They won´t even stay in that place! :hammer: They should have been cleared from there and the windows protected.attisb said:There is something wrong about this picture. Do you have a pics of the damage. or the front with it missing?Invero said:There was some damage to the 1970's totem pole at Pop Century, and it had to be taken down for repair.
Debbie said:Sorry if noone has given an answer to the boat question. My guess is that they tie the SS magic kingdom up with enough slack to allow for rough seas. The boats that go from resort to resort get the same treatment and probably are anchored as best can be. The little SeaRacers are probably tied together. I can't see there being boat sheds for all of these water craft, as it doesn't seem practical. Only a few dry docks out of sight to make repairs would suffice.
Since surge from the ocean or gulf wasn't a factor so far inland; only a higher tide than usual, coupled with very rough water in the lakes would be the greatest challenge for the boats to make it through the storms.
Again, this is only a guess, but since boating is the thing to do around here, and I own an 18'5 boat myself; one can only do the best you can in these situations.
