Daily Budget??

Hi all,

Any suggestions on what would be a good daily budget for a couple (no kids) at WDW? We plan to do one nice sit down meal each evening, and one light brunch during the day. We were thinking of about 200/day (100/each.). This would cover meals, and some light shopping. Does this sound like enough? I realize you could spend as much as you want, but does this sound like enough to cover the above??

Thanks,
SLPRay

Take a look at this website, www.wdwig.com

They have every menu from every restaurant at WDW and also includes the prices. You can get a more accurate idea of how much to allocate for meals each day. I would generally say your budget sounds fine. Personally, I usually allocate more money than I actually need just to be safe.

Have a great vacation.

Hey SLP, that should be just about perfect actually!!!!! That is exactly what I budget myself when I go . My usual figures are about $10.00 for breakfast, $16 or so for a buffet. I also figure in about $40.00 a night for a nice dinner. There are places on property where you could spend MUCH more such as Victoria & Albert's in the Grand Floridian etc. As previously mentioned, check out wdwig.com to get a good idea of what the offerings are for dinner. It will give you a more informed viewpoint as far as what type of food you'd like and where to get it. Also depending on where you want to eat, Id call Disney and make some Priority Seating arrangements ( Similar to a reserrvation sort of) I have seen people walk up to restaurant podiums in EPCOT and be turned away because they are full for that night!!! If you want any more help, please ask!!! I'll respond!! Belle

Hey SLPRAY!

$100/person/day should be just right!

Budget and save that much to be sure. If there is any extra you can treat yourself to something special at the end of your trip!

Better to be safe than sorry and $100/day is what I recommend to everyone!

HAVE FUN!!!

I know Disney is expensive but $100 per person/per day is a little steep. It may be that expensive if you eat in a sitdown restaurant for 3x meals a day and you have a hearty appetite but there are ways of saving on meals. I hate to waste time on a leasurly breakfast so we usually eat in our room. Before arriving at our hotel I go grocery shopping at Publix (free stop when using YourRide transport) and stock up on water bottles, cereal, snacks, soda, fruit etc. I've tried the all you can drink cups but unless you love soda and are willing to schlep across the All Stars resort etc. to refill you mug having a cooler or refrigerator in your room is well worth it.

In going over my budgets for the last few trips, I think we averaged about $70 a day per person on food.

We did use wishes last year, but I'm looking at what it would have cost us in $, not wishes. :D

Then you can add and extra gift buying to that. But $70 for two adults with no rugrats, and I never go cheep on food. We always eat well on vacation. Boma for breakfast, nice luches like Rose and Crown or China, and good PS like Artists Point, Narcossess, or Chefs de France.

Some days would be over $70, some days less, but on average I'd say $70.

Have fun and good eating! :slurp:

I always over budget so by the end of our stay on the last day I can shop to we drop at downtown disney I usally eat at the food court for breakfast which is less then twenty dollars do a fast food lunch about another twenty ( guessamating ) and a nice dinner about 60 dollars guessamating again because we always get dessert and appetisers with dinner and I alot for snacks and drinks during the day which if you want ice cream and water or sodas thats about another 10 to 20 dollars aday if its hot out so all in all I budget 150 dollars for food and snacks and if you want shopping than 200 is about right . Like I said I love to over budget then I know at the end I will have more money to spend

EXACTLY!!!

Without turning this into a huge financial debate, that is why I posted my suggestion above!

SLPRAY'S question was "Is $100/person/day enough to budget?"

Yes. It is.

You can always find cheaper ways to do things and save money, but then you may find yourself underbudgeted if something comes up you really want to do laterin your trip.

Rather than risk that, budget $100/person/day if you jhave the means to do so, and have some left over for next year's trip if you don't need it all.

Better then coming up short....that's all I'm saying......

You're right. The question was 'is it enough', and yep $100 should be just fine.

Can I still start a huge financial debate anyways?

Hey SLP, you will certainly have money left over. When I went in August I ate at the 50's Prime Time Cafe ( Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Apple raisin chutney, with Mashed potatoes with cheddar cheese and bacon bites and hot tea) and spent almost $20.00. The second night I went to Teppanyaki Grilll in Japan and had Filet Mignon and Shrimp hibachi dinner and iced tea. That was slightly over $30 if I am remembering correctly. Then I left a tip also which I didnt count into the cost of the meal. Also both of my breakfasts ran me about $10.00 a day plus tip. Hope this helps!!! Belle

$100 is a good budget. If you think about 1 good sit down meal a day, 2 fast serve meals, some postcards, t-shirt, photo on an attraction or in front of the park icon, etc. $100 a day can go rather quick, but it is a good guideline to budget! :)
