D23: The D stands for Disappointing (Updated)

There really is a lot of bitterness among the frequent posters here , yikes, no one is forcing you to enter a Disney park or resort let alone pay for these experiences. Beverly Hills? I would rather bring my family to WDW than some snobby exclusive place full of elitist socialites.
The bitterness comes from knowing what Disney artists and Imagineers are capable of, having loved what they’ve done before, and now watching in dismay as Disney loses its identity and actually becomes the greedy money-sucker it’s often been parodied as.

Tell me, are YOU overjoyed at the endless flood of remakes snd sequels? The emphasis on acquired IPs? The prices? The cutbacks? Epcot’s direction?

You tell me to enjoy life, yet the times you do stop by, you tend to complain about us.🤔

Listen to yourself, maybe?

Ok I will start listening to myself,

I do like part of Epcot’s direction , the plans for greenery (less concrete), love world showcase and hope they add some countries and preserve its character. Future world is a wait and see for me otherwise, I was lucky enough to to experience Epcot in the 80s and 90s so I get what you are saying

I despise the remakes , total lack of imagination. I am totally against any introduction of super heroes to any Disney park but a huge part of today’s youth seems to love it, hopefully they keep most of that in California

The prices , it’s tough , thankfully we can afford it but it’s a catch 22 , lower the prices and you get even more overcrowding no?

Okay, the

My life, which I enjoy, includes being critical of my once-favorite fantasy factory when it produces crud and calls it cupcakes. :D
Let the negativity go, its not healthy. It'll just lead to heart breaks and then a heart attack and then where will you be.... :p

What is negativity without positivity? The dialectical tension between the two is what makes life interesting. Moreover, the human impulse to criticize is not inherently a "bad" thing, it is not a purely negative activity but is itself a creative act, an artistic act even.

BTW, for all the talk about them doing only remakes and sequels, Disney sure has a lot of original content coming out over the next couple of years. Both Disney+ and the Studios will see a bunch of new originals being released, including from Disney Animation.

I was just over in an Evolving Epcot Forum thread posting about Bob Chapek's Wonder Rotunda to be announced tomorrow, and I saw that apparently the Brazil pavilion already leaked on Twitter? I guess someone is already in Brazil setting up a process to recruit college kids to staff the pavilion, and that leaked by some Brazilian with a Twitter account? Oops! 🧐

It is crazy how Disney is completely incapable of managing these events. They really need to find an outside party but unlikely they will because while our fanbase cries and moans about these events, they do so with their wallets wide open. People will stand in 2-3 hour lines just to get exclusive imagineering T-shirts at these events...probably the same folks waiting for an hour or more to get a popcorn bucket at Disneyland. This is the part of the fanbase I have a much harder time relating to anymore. Maybe I’m just getting old and jaded...get off my lawn disnerds!
When I went in 2015 I’m pretty sure they were staffing D23 using employees from multiple branches of the company. I’m not sure how they expect non-Disney Parks frontline CMs to handle mass crowds. It should really be all their DLR CMs who aren’t getting enough hours. Then maybe we won’t be funneled into a panel that started an hour ago

It's not just you. Yesterday I saw a short Twit video from D23 Expo of the stampede that happened when they opened the doors and let people go to the Disney Store on the exhibit hall floor.

About five seconds into that video I literally shuddered. :depressed:

So you’re saying people should *not* speak up when they see something happening they don’t think is right? 😃
Yes, but we’re talking first world problems here. This is not some injustice where everyone should speak out for change. It’s a silly entertainment company with a theme park that we all spend too much time talking about.

Anyways as you know I was messing with you. :p

I’m actually feeling disgusted.

It seems the life and magic promised for Galaxy’s Edge wasn’t cut afterall. It was just moved to the hotel, with a thousand dollar price tag.

That disgusts me. It really does. The land should have the features, not the boutique hotel.

This is truly a sad era we’re in.

It really is sad that it was moved to a hotel that is so incredibly expensive and only on the East Coast, I can't believe I am going to be looking forward to videos of a hotel because there is no way I am going to ever be able to justify the price tag to stay at this hotel even if I am a huge Star Wars nerd.
