This is test footage for the ride, not specifically what the vehicle will be. They're testing what the vehicles can handle/what terrain works best for the ride. They're not going to build a version of the ride just for tests, just to completely rebuild it in the park. It's like asking why the test footage for Cosmic Rewind isn't set in Space

Obviously I’ve misunderstood the point of the video then. I assumed it was “ and here’s what the Cars ride will be like”.

I don’t really understand why they’re showing us footage of what look like quad bikes on a dirt track if the ride isn’t anything like that.

Guess I’ll just wait until they tell us why the ride is going to be.

But not kid friendly. Shouldn’t something themed to Cars be rideable without a height restriction?
If that's the case, IMO why bother showing off the speed of it. It makes no sense showing off any sense of thrill when they always dumb it down so all ages can enjoy it.

I think the point of the footage is to show off that it’s trackless and bouncy, not like Radiator Springs Racers in DCA.

Ah. Never seen Radiator Springs, and I didn’t see about the trackless ride. So like MMRR and Remy, only with bumps and speed rather than spins?

The Indy Jeeps are inside an awesome dark ride.

This looks like a glaring example of perhaps Imagineerings worst tendency - huge investment of time and money in tech for its own sake when simpler solutions would create much better attractions.

Fair enough. For what it’s worth, I don’t think they developed this technology. I think a third party did this.

Speed and G forces aren’t why I go to Disney, and they sure aren’t the reasons Disney became world leader in theme parks.
That's what made them the world leader but IMO they aren't that anymore. Times change and today's guest wants thrills with theming. Why else is Guardians one of the best attractions at WDW now. Look at the parks that get voted best in the USA now. It's Dollywood and Silver Dollar City

Disney is absolutely, 110% still the leader in themed resorts. My loyalty is to Uni, but objectively its not particularly close.

“Times” or “guests” changing is always a weak, vague excuse. Unless you’re going to engage in a deep, knowledgeable, wide-ranging cultural history research project, it’s just an excuse without substance.

Guardians is not one of the best attractions at WDW.

I love Dollywood, but if it gets voted “best,” (source?) it’s absolutely because of service, maintenance, and food, not thrill rides. Otherwise Cedar Point and its ilk would far surpass it.

I think the ride will be similar to what they show, but it's not the exact ride system. The whole point of the video is to say they have moved beyond the concept art stage of the projects and are on R&D, before construction begins in 2025.
