Maybe I'm way late to the party but what's expected to be revealed at D23 Brazil this November? Will the announcement be limited to South America, International, cruise ships/port, or could we get some updated domestic news? As far as domestic, I don't expect new projects but could see updates on already announced stuff like timelines, more artwork and exact locations

Is there a demand for Disney cruises from South America ? It doesn’t seem as big of a market.
I was just reaching as I really can't see what the D23 event will be centered around. Looks like it will be held in Sao Paulo. Could we be looking at a new park or at least destination location like the resort in Hawaii. Here is a layout of the convention space.

A South American theme destination park/resort could work but wouldn't think it would be grand in scale. I could see see a park anchored by Encanto, Coco, Emperor's New Groove, and maybe a Pirate Bay type of area. Park could also offer Handy Manny area for the little ones. This park/resort could also double a cruise ship destination port with a large water park style area and a 1/2 day park excursion. Imagine a Disney Cruise Ship that actually took you to a park. Back up the cash truck! The port could feature a authentic food and merchandise items.

I saw this concept art a few years ago from a great site called imagineerland. This is a place the artist calls Pirate Islands complete with a hotel, attradtions, and cruise ship piers. Neat concept when considering a resort destination spot in this area.

I can't imagine they'd want to give their large South American fanbase a reason not to travel to Florida.
I can't imagine that Visit Orlando, alongside other DMOs, never mind the state and local governments themselves, would be particularly overjoyed either. Arguably that could lead to some retaliation...

Brazil is literally one of Orlando's three big markets for visitors. Build a park or significant experience there, and you've easily wiped out $5 billion in economic contributions Brazilians give to the state per year, including local governments. And they will fight like hell to make sure it doesn't happen.

The level of marketing expense to plan a D23 simply because they have something Brazil related to announce would be obscene and completely beyond the companies ability to coordinate.

South American DCL itineraries are somewhat off the table short term with bookings planned in 2026. But as the cruise line grows from a niche to a moderate player by the turn of the next decade there is starting to be more ships to support exotic itineraries. But NCL and Celebrity typically send one ship and Royal doesn’t even bother.

Typically these offshoot events don’t contain much and I really wouldn’t expect that to be any different here. If Josh has a talk, which it doesn’t appear he does, there will be nothing. D23 Tokyo did touch on Pandora. Nothing actually TDR was discussed at that offshoot. Destinations almost consistently have nothing of substance and last years in Florida with actual discrete announcements was quite unusual, but probably related to the pipeline and the exec head not wanting to look foolish. At the best of times they merely flush out projects we know about.

Confused by your opening sentence. Are you suggesting that Disney would not plan a stand along event just for a Brazil announcement due to cost? If so, you are saying that this is not just a Brazil announcement but more of a Disney fan event to garner more hype to drive future volume?

I personally can see a world where Disney stakes a claim in South America with the first destination spot. I know it may cannibalize some of the domestic travel but it will also allow those that can not afford the international travel to frequent a Disney park more often which could be a net positive for the company.

For my money, and with the announcement of 4 new cruise ship at D23, I think Disney has a bigger and more global plan for those ships. I could see something surrounding DCL and a port in Brazil but also could see nothing at all but hype.

I think that's it. Disney has a lot of fans in Brazil, so are just hosting a D23 fan event. Unfortunately, not every D23 event is going to be full of park announcements, usually it's just the Anaheim convention. At the other D23 Events like Destination D in Orlando, and the previous Expo in Tokyo, they may give 1 or 2 small updates on upcoming projects to get people visiting in the next year or so, but the only major announcement from any of these from memory was the Iron Man Coaster in Paris a week before the official transformation announcement and the 2023 Destination D park panel being damage control from 2022's lackluster parks panel

Agree, that's the most likely but would be a nice time to drop some info on already announced projects and timelines to build more excitement. Especially Monster Inc. at DHS.

I think if we hear anything, it will be about Zootopia in the Tree of Life or Test Track as they are set to debut next year. Maybe a few more pieces of concept art for Tropical Americas, but even that is a maybe

Yeah! We need progress reports on 2025! Mermaid Redo was supposed to be 2024, no hint of a Date yet.......

So far, we only have permits for DHS Villains Show. No permits yet for MK's New Lighting Package in prep for Starlight. Granted, it's not rumored till January but still!

Hey! How can I buy into this? There's no Imagination 4!
