Trip Report Cycling through Celebration, a cream cheese covered remote and the Closed Wallet Rebellion of 2016.

So last week we spent seven nights in a one-bedroom at Saratoga Springs Resort in the Congress Park section. We like Congress Park and have stayed in that section before. The walk over to Disney Springs is fun and since the new section just opened with several new shops and restaurants, we walked over several times during the week.
I think the first evening there is when I declared the wallet closed and decided to try to save a dollar or two this trip. What started it was sticker shock at some of the prices I was seeing.
But let's start at the beginning and I'll go into more detail later.
We got an early start and arrived to WDW via the 535 entrance to Hotel Plaza Blvd.:

We meandered around a bunch of neighborhoods where the homes were lovely, with immaculate lawns, comfortable porches and hidden driveways in the back, most with their own little green park somewhere in the center, then found our way over to Celebration Blvd. and followed it to Eastlawn Drive and one of the more upscale neighborhoods with homes I could not even afford to take pictures of (but I took pictures anyway).

We found another scenic walkway surrounding a small pond and rode around it till we came to a boardwalk that headed through the woods.
"Wanna go that way?" she asked.
"Sure, why not? We are lost anyway so what's the difference?" he replied.
"Lead the way!"
"Ladies first!"

So that boardwalk lead to another neighborhood we rode around for awhile then came back the same way and continued along the walkway beside the pond, where we had strayed from earlier due to the lure of an unknown boardwalk. Seek adventure, just be safe.
Did not intend to take pictures of my handlebar and water bottle, but managed to not hold the camera high enough here. Still, you get the idea...lovely walkway along an equally lovely waterway.

We made our way back up Eastlawn, past some stunning homes and came to a church that was just letting out, filling the air with sounds of laughter and small talk. Most folks waved, an older couple, even older than us, seemed saddened us tourist types were riding down their street.

Back at the Farmer's Market, we got some tomatoes, lettuce, onion, peppers, and other salad makings, picked up some toasted candy-coated almonds (my wife loves those things) and stopped by a table where a couple of ladies were making fresh guacamole and salsa. We got a container of each as they were making it. The only way it could have been any fresher is if we stood there and ate it instead of taking it back to the room, but there were chips waiting in the room.
Oh, we also got a quarter of a big, seedless watermelon. It was very sweet and juicy and thankfully they sold quarters, halves and whole ones. We could have never finished a whole one, but I was willing to try half. We settled on a quarter and it turned out to be just right for two.

Almost forgot. We stopped back by the fountain, found a bench and just watched folks play for awhile. Little kids (and us big kids) love to play until they are soaked. We did not get soaked but saw some very soggy children with huge smiles having a wonderful time.

So, that is all I have time for right now. Back at the room, here is the fresh salsa and guacamole served with a rotisserie chicken/bagel sandwich. This was very good and sadly, for some reason, did not last long. Must have been it was just a small container...yeah, that's it. The Farmer's Market at Celebration is on Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. till 2 or 3 p.m. and I am guessing they probably have seasonal hours that change, but don't really know for sure.

Thoroughly enjoying your report! We always try to build in some relaxing while in the World. My son is moving to Orlando in July. Thanks for the great pics of the farmer's market! I will tell him to check it out. Is there a particular day during the week for the market?
Sunday mornings starting at 9 a.m. Reasonable prices and nice selection. Enjoy.
Thanks for reading. More to come.
