Cuts coming to every area of parks and resorts - thanks to Shanghai and Paris

I haven't noticed overflowing trash cans but smaller food portions were obvious at breakfast at Pop Century this morning*. Definitely less eggs and I'm sure we used to get two French toasts. All with a higher price.

#ThanksShanghai

*We stayed offsite but ate breakfast there this morning.

Edit: I got the bounty platter.

"Man, I used to be able to catch a smoke behind the gym instead of going to English. But now that jerk Assistant Principle walks back there twice during that period. That jerk!"

Wouldn't have to linger if Disney stopped cutting hours bahahahahaha most magical place on earth and everyone's on the Internet arguing about how quickly you should exit the park....I think the point is the OP noticed a change in procedure and clearly he is a photographer not some wandering tourist being a snob. But I know you repeatedly defend Disney with almost every action they take sooooo.

Well, I'll give you credit on one thing- you've managed to get me and @lazyboy97o to agree on something. Well done.

Im going to stay late at the parks past closing time now to figure this out
I don't defend everything they do. For instance, I have been very vocal about my disapproval of Starbucks in the Magic Kingdom. Stop trying to dress up your butt-hurt over rules actually being enforced more stringently as some sort of righteous indignation.

LOL star bucks in the magic kingdom is great but you defend some of the other garbage.
None of the Asian parks are majority owned by Disney and there would be no additional 'love' stateside if the international parks did not exist.

Wouldn't be gross budget cuts to pad the books and hide icebergs either would there be? And the amount of cash Disney is spending on shanghai absolutely could have materialized stateside. Oh well hope universals third gate comes sooner than later.

Rivers of Light, Nighttime Safaris, new shows in Magic Kingdom and DHS, and then later down the pipeline Avatarland, Toy Story Land, and Star Wars Land. And that's to say nothing of the stuff going on over at Disney Springs.

So a shopping mall and a broken nighttime show? Oh and a pre existing ride with a fake sunset added in. Good call.

Disney has plenty of money now for there to be no need to makes cuts in the US. The cuts are a retail guy coming in and proving himself with tried and failed retail methods. That problem didn't get created because of the international parks.

This! I really do hope this rather unwelcome new manager Mr. Chapek will not get away so easily with these brutal and short sighted cost cutting measures to the stateside parks. Of course, there will be gains short term, but the market sooner or later *has* to react to the fact that they are selling a lesser product for more money.

I have also heard our $3.5 bn hasn't been touched. Yet. Still time for those tourists in Shanghai peeing on flowers to ruin all the fun for us though. Let's hope SDL is actually successful.

If the $3.5B hasn't been touched -- which is nice to hear -- can we explain the TSL cutbacks? Is it that they allocated money from the $3.5B and put it towards the Pandora overruns?

I doubt these cuts are coming from chappie....there affecting Disneyland too and he has no say over that.....yes Disney has tons of money and isnt in any real trouble but they want stock prices to rise whilst all this is going on....that is the problem they are trying to keep overall spending artificially low here so it can be ungodly high over there.

The market has not reacted yet...Sadly will it ever?

What? Chapek is Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. That most definitely includes the Disneyland Resort.

Correct but you think one man recently apointed to the post is making a wide swath of cuts to make himself look better? Really? Because cutting labor is such a difficult task for ANY management type to grasp. I don't get how it builds his resume.

The edict to do so definitely comes from above, but it doesn't change anything or negate is role in the methods. Nor does it answer your odd issue of the cuts affecting Disneyland.

Id love to know what a managers response woul be if you asked why the portion has been cut, and pointed out that historically you always got 2 waffles :)
