What do you get the Star Wars fan that has everything? Studios Central is reporting that Star Wars Weekends (weekends May 18 through June 10, 2012 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios) will be offering a ‘Carbon Freeze Me’ opportunity in which guests can be digitally scanned to produce a likeness of themselves frozen in carbonite.

The site reports the experience will be offered inside ‘Sounds Dangerous’ and will cost $99.95. The final product will be delivered via mail within 3 – 4 weeks.

No further details have been offered at present, but it’s quite likely the product will resemble the ‘Custom Carbonites‘ by Paul Pape Designs which replicate the personalized iconic image in plastic and Super Sculpey, as pictured here. Paul Pape Designs is not affiliated with the Star Wars Weekends experience at Walt Disney World, but is able to provide custom carbonite sculpts based on photos and is arguably cheaper, offering a 4 1/4″ long sculpt for $50′along with a 12″ long sculpt for $300 (at this time, the dimensions and materials for the Star Wars Weekend version is unknown). Pape also offers a couples version.

Sounds like a 3d scanner and then a 3D prototyping printer copy. Assuming reasonable quality and size, that's not a terrible price for something made in that manner.

Wow - the Star Wars geek inside me is freaking out right now!! I hope this becomes a permanent thing. I always wanted the life size Han Solo in carbonite the Sharper Image used to sell - that thiing was beyond cool. Getting a digital image of my 6 year old son in carbonite would be amazing!!

Those look like the size of chocolate bar. :(

For $100, I'd want one that's life size.

There are other 3D alternatives already in the parks that provide for a clearer image:

Are there going to be any dress code restrictions during the scanning process? For example, will women be permitted to be scanned in swimsuits? (We've all seen them roaming the parks.)

I would like a new Challenger SRT-8 for $5k. I have a feeling we will both be waiting for quite some time.

The last time I was at WDW in December 2011 I purchased the Jedi Mickey Walt Disney Classic Collectors item. Considering that was $125 minus my 10% Annual Pass discount, I would rather spend my money on another WDW Star Wars item of similar value.

Man, they should make these life sized. They'd make a killing. I'll have one!

With an eight inch reproduction, I would opt to just have one body part frozen stiff in carbonite.

We need time for things to happen.
Hefty price tag, but sooooooo cool!

It's going to be offered in Sounds Dangerous?

I've never been to a Star Wars weekend\event at DHS, do they basically take over the park with this type of sweet awesomeness or is it contained to the general vicinity of Star Tours?
