Crystal Palace Before Park Opening??

How does this work? I just noticed a reservation opening at 8:45 on 1 of our park days. I grabbed it but then looked at the park opening, which is 9:00am. Won't there be a TON of people waiting in line to get into the park at that hour? How would we be able to get through all those people and be let in? What time should we actually arrive? It worked out perfectly because we have our Cinderella meal as an early dinner now, so both our meals that day would be taken care of and have characters also. Then we are freed up to have our #2 park day at Epcot. Any ideas how this works and how/when we should arrive there? Oh and also our dinner at CRT is at 3:55pm and we have a BBB appointment at 6:35 at the Castle. Is this enough time between the two?

There is always a turn-stile all the way over to the right of the entrance for breakfast ADRs. And yes, you should have enough time between CRT and BBB; they move you through that meal faster than any other restaurant.

Thank you! Will the busses be running that early in order to get us there? I think at this point anyway we are staying at the All Star Sports, what time should we head over to Magic Kingdom?

The busses start running that early, although I would still give myself at least 45 minutes from your door to the MK front gates, just to be on the safe side...

I would give yourself about an hour ahead to be safe. I am not totally familiar with the buses, we always rent a car, but I am pretty sure they start running 2 hours before park time to get guests to the parks for those pre-opening ADRs.

We had to wait a bit- got at the gate early for Tusker House breakfast. We finished eating, and the "parade of folks" came barreling across the bridge and nearly knocked over my Mom & Dad ( older folks).

Yikes@! That's what I'm afraid of! I couldn't imagine trying to get through the crowd and saying "excuse me, no, I really can go in early, I promise!" lol Glad there is a seperate line to go through, and at least when they are turned loose we will hopefully already be inside CP... :)

The cool part about getting in the park early is having an unobstructed view of Main St and the castle. Great for picture and video taking without the crowd roaming around yet. A few years ago my wife and I had an 8:10 reservation and we finished up breakfast about 10 minutes before the park opened at 9:00. I was able to video the park opening from the inside, everyone busting through tunnels on their way to their favorite land. If this is your first time at the Crystal Palace breakfast I recommend trying the Breakfast Lasagna. It's not much to look at, especially after it's been dug into, but it tastes great.

Allow yourself plenty of time to get there and also some extra time so you don't have to rush once in the park, you will then be able to have a good look at Main Street and Cinderella Castle and take some photos before your reservation time.

its easy - and a great way to get your photo in front of the castle with no one behind you. We always make an ADR for before park opening for our last day. We love it! Strolling down Main Street when it is nearly empty. :) You will see a special turn-style to go into and you will be directed to where to go. :) There is enough time - especially since they are across from each other :)

get there earlier than 845. you can enter around 8 am. take a slow walk up an empty main street usa and take pictures with no one but you and your family in them. there will also be photopass photographers out that early. its a great way to get good shots you would have no chance at getting during park hours. you can check in at CP then spend the 30-40 minutes taking great pictures in the MK!

I was just about to suggest the same thing! All you have to do is let the CM's know that you have a breakfast reservation at CP, and then you'll enter a specific turnstile. As others have said, take your time walking down Main Street & stop by the Walt & Mickey statue for unobstructed photos, only IF you get there before 8:30 a.m.!!! I say this because: 1. Guests are let in thru the turnstiles around 8:45 a.m. & the tunnels start to fill up fast! 2. You don't want to end up "walking in" with the rest of the guests, because it negates the awesome opportunities for crowdless photos.

I plan an early morning (like 8:05 a.m.) ressie at CP or CRT every trip we take with family, so we can get photos of the park with practically no one there (we've done this at EP & HS). However, make sure that the day you have your ADR, MK doesn't have Extra Morning Hours, thus negating the purpose of an early morning ressie.

The day before your early meal at CP, call down to your resorts' front desk and inquire about the "Character Meal" busses; let them know that your ADR is around 8:30 a.m. (this gives you an additional 15 min. for delays). Typically, if there is no EMH that morning, the "character" busses to MK & surrounding resorts (which are regular park busses) begin running at 6:30 a.m. (because some guests might have reservations at Ohana or Chef Mickey's, etc.) & will run every 30 min.. So, I would suggest getting to your bus stop around 7:30 a.m., which in theory, would get you to MK before 8 a.m..

When we had 8:05 a.m. ressies at CRT in Dec. 2010, we got to the bus stop at 7:10 a.m. & had missed the bus to MK and had to wait until 7:40 a.m.. The bus from AK-Kidani to MK took 25 min., so I had to speed walk up Main Street, but told the rest of my party to go a bit slower & take pictures while I checked us in. Good thing they give a 15 min. grace period!

Bottom line, get to your bus stop early, get to MK early & saunter down Main Street for photo ops!

Well thanks a lot, everybody! All this talk of pre-park entry and delicious breakfast just induced me to book an 8:05am ADR for Crystal Palace on the last day of our May visit!

I like this board, but my participation is getting expensive... ;)

I would get there as early as possible. The resort buses usually are up and running between 6:30a-6:45a. I've been let into MK as early as 7:40-7:45a and unlike the other 3 parks, I've never had anyone at MK check to make sure you're on the list for a pre-park opening meal, activity or tour. I'm not saying abuse it...just saying they won't hold you back at the entry until 15 min before your ADR.

Also, while I know not everyone loves stalking ADRs like me (Yeah- I'm an oddball ;) ), but you might try hunting for an earlier ADR. While the 8:05am is my ideal...anything before 8:30a can give you a smidge more time in the park shortly after it opens. You can also check in early...I know we had an 8:15a once...checked in at 8 and was seated at 8:05.

If you're concerned about getting to the park in time and don't have a car on property with you - hail a cab and take it to the Contemporary and tell the people there you have a breakfast reservation. Then when you get out of the taxi - walk into the lobby and make a hard left. Then just follow the walk-way to the park.
