It depends. On the family beach I'm okay in my flip flop crocs and barefoot in the water. At Serenity Bay you need water shoes for a lot of it. I cut my foot wide open there one day.

If you don't want to use credit cards, most places will take US dollars. You might get a better exchange rate if you convert it beforehand, but using dollars won't be a problem.

DF - you're my superhero! I'll check wallyworld tonight to see if they sell aquasocks still

I don't know about elsewhere, but the Cayman dollar is tied to the US dollar.

It is a $1.25 US = $1.00 Cayman

you will get that rate at any bank, ATM, or store. The stores all take US dollars and give that rate. However you WILL get your change in Caymanian money.

True! I forgot to say that about the change. I didn't realize the rate never changed though!

The Caymans are islands with almost no natural resources (Turtles, thats about it)

Even though they are a British holding, almost everything on the islands arrives by ship from Tampa. Their dollar is locked to the US dollar because most of their purchases are actualy US items.

I did some poking around, and I found out the "real" exchange rate is $1.20 not $1.25. $1.25 is what all the stores give.So I guess if you want to save a few bucks, you could exchange money at a bank. I never have. If you do, you are then stuck with a pocket full of Cayamanian money you need to spend.
