I know it's not officially WDW, but who here has been on a Disney Cruise? Does it have the WDW magic? Would it be at all interesting for a 20-year-old guy?

We went in December 2007 for the 4-day cruise and had the blast of a lifetime, but we are also a family with a 16 & 9 year old. I do not think my in-laws in their 60's had as much fun as we did, but we enjoyed it. My kids are still talking about it and are ready for a longer cruise.

I felt the magic as soon as we got on the bus and to our final journey off the boat. I especially enjoyed trying some new dining adventures in the rotational dining - it was rather gourmet and fun. There seemed to be so many activities going on for all different ages across the board and at your age I would definitely recommend signing up for an adventurous shore excursion! We had wonderful mousekeeping and servers on board that took care of us just like the parks.

I will forewarn you, the staterooms are snug, but we pretty much only spent time in there to sleep so it wasn't an issue for us.

Be prepared for lots of kids, which I would then recommend on Castaway Cay taking advantage of the Adults Only Beach and enjoying the tranquility.

I went on a Disney Cruise when I graduated college and it was the best vacation I've ever been on...I got the land & sea package as a gift from my parents and while I love WDW with all my heart, there is a magic I can't even begin to explain that is on the ship. We'd never been cruising before, but the 3 nights weren't nearly enough....next time, we'll definitely be going on a week long cruise to really soak up all the magic on the seas!

If you love WDW, you will absolutely love going on DCL. Can't recommend it enough!

What about us adults? Are there screaming kids everywhere you turn? I know their ships don't have casinos, but I don't care about that.

You see them, but they're not EVERYWHERE. They didn't really have any effect on our honeymoon. There are adult-only sections on both the ships and Castaway Cay which are really nice.

The whole time I kept thinking/saying: "There's no way this ship is at full capacity", as it didn't feel crowded to me. The CMs all assured me that it was.

Thanks.

I'm going to see if I can find a decent deal. The prices for this cruiseline are always much more than the others

I'll let you know, I'm going on one this weekend. It will be my first time aboard a cruise of any type. My sister, who is a Disney nut, swears by them. This will be her fourth, and they are already booking their next one now.

Interesting question. In my opinion, the only way you could say the cruises have "WDW magic" is through taking the Cruise Line coaches down to Port Canaveral. The cruise ships, I feel, have a different kind of magic, one that is possibly more noticeable than WDW's magic, to a non-Disney fan.

We've done two seven day cruises. There were four adults - no chiildren. The ship is magnificent. Highly recommend Palo (get your reservations early). The brunch there was our favorite. For your day at sea there were plenty of adult activities (wine tasting, cooking demos, etc) There is one adult only pool where no chidren were allowed. We booked a verandah room which if you can go the extra cost was worth it. All rooms on cruises are tight but liked the idea of two separate bathrooms- one with sink and tub and one with commode and sink. Adult only beach at Castaway Cay was peaceful and relaxing. We really didn't care that there was no casino or no huge shopping area like other cruise lines. Shopping was what we needed, plenty of food, entertainment, etc. HIGHLY recommend! Can't wait to go on another!!:sohappy:

I've been twice, waaay back when they first started them. I always had the same impression. It's really, really nice. And I agree about the kids. Yes, they're around, but you can definately have grown-up only time if you want too.

We Spent the First part of our Honeymoon on the Disney Cruise and we loved it we stayed mainly in the Adult only sections and didn't really see any kids the only thing that I recommend is to sign up for excursions through the boat we missed alot at the different islands because we went out on our own. just felt like we were wandering around. anyway the drink special of the day is always good and adults only pool is really nice.

I was just on the Wonder in March and it's a BEAUTIFUL ship! They do have the Disney magic but a lot of it is done subtley. I will try to post some pics on here if I can figure it out. As far as adults only they do have Palo which for a minimal fee you can go and eat without any children. There are also adult only pools, lounges, spa treatments, coffee bars and a really nice gym on board. So yes you can have a wonderful cruise for adults only.

They also have special programs like wine tasting and tours that an adult can take part in.

If you are interested in booking, please keep Kingdom Konsultants in mind.

This is a picture of the bar at one of the lounges. Notice the old Caddy that is built into the back of the bar. I thought this was the coolest thing!
