Crowds at the end of July?

We'll be at SSR July 21-28. Although we've been to WDW many times (several over the holidays) this will be our first trip down in July. Friends have been there around the 4th and said it's insane! How bad is it at towards the end of the month?

From my experience, from the beginning of June to the end of August is very busy, maybe not 4th of July crazy but very busy.

It is hot, think summer in St.Louis hot, humid. If you have been over the holidays..i.e. Christmas Day, Easter Day etc. then you know what wall to wall people is like. It is not as bad as all that. If you stay onsite I would highly recommend getting up early going to the Early EMH then during the heat of the day take a break, a swim, shop etc., then go back in for the evenings. We are going July 26-Aug. 9 we went about the same time last year and are heading back for more. It wasn't so bad as to turn us off. If you use fast passes, drink lots of water and take breaks you will be fine.

I have only visited WDW (7 times total, 8th time will be in July) during the last 2 weeks of July and 1st week of August. Honestly, the crowds are not all that bad compared to what I have heard. The last time I went in 2006 the only ride that ever had more than a 60 minute wait was Soarin' in EPCOT. The lines were heaviest in the middle of the afternoon (which is when me and my girlfriend would usually be back at the hotel resting or laying out by the pool). The EMH were awesome, too and waits were never long during those nights. I grew up in Los Angeles and have visited Disneyland probably close to 300 times now and the crowds there are way, way worse in my opinion. Of course, WDW is a lot more spread out so crowds don't seem as bad, either. I think summertime in WDW is crowded but not unbearable. In the unofficial guidebook on a scale of 1-10 (10 being most crowded) mid-July-early August is around a 7 or an 8. Since I haven't been any other time of the year it's impossible for me to know what WDW looks like when it's jam packed or empty, though. And yes it is hot but call me crazy, I love humid, muggy and hot Florida weather. I grew up in nasty dry 115 degree heat in the valley so 90 degrees and humid is fine by me! Plus, the summer afternoons are usually cooled down with the spectacular thunderstorms that I love!

Thanks for the advice! Since this will be the third trip in the last 16 months, we plan on spending some time away from the parks relaxing at the pool. Somehow, I think if we can survive New Year's Eve in the Magic Kingdom, we can do anything! :ROFLOL:

think of two words.....HUMID and INSANE!! As far as weather goes....worst time to visit Fla, 95 degrees with 95% humidity.....you start sweating as soon as you walk out the door.

Crowd is ridiculous, everyone trying to get in that last visit before back to school.

But I am sure you will have fun, a bad day at Disney is better then a day anywhere else.

The weather is sort of like the Mekong Delta during the transition from the wet season to the dry season.

Crowds are ridiculous.

A siesta during the middle of the day is highly suggested.

Good luck.

You'll be fine. It will be hot, but not much worse than home really and your at WDW not Illinois! ;) We live down near St. Louis and as you know it gets hot, humid and muggy early in the morning and stays that way all day & all night. The one thing we haven't really had trouble with at WDW is mosquitoes. The one tip everyone keeps saying "take a break" is so helpful. Go back to your resort and swim or nap. Also, remember to drink, drink, drink.

Good point....I'd rather deal with the muggy weather in WDW than Central Illinois! :ROFLOL:

We're definitely planning to nap/swim and relax. We're working out our schedule to hit all the early EMHs so there is plenty of time to do what we want and head back to SSR.
