The closer to 4th of July, the worse. Be sure to bring a fan squirter. It's gonna be pretty hot. (The ones at the World are ONLY ten dollars!  ).

Have a nice trip! :D

Yeah, attendance is down, but not by enough that there won't be the typical summer crowd when you're there. Expect extremely heavy crowds and plan accordingly.

Only $10! They were $17 when we went down in April-OY! We got one at Walmart-the same exact thing but for $5.50 :)
They were a life saver!

it'll be crowded. Disney has been increasing its hours from those originally planned. So expect the Magic Kingdom to be open 9 to 10 some nights and 9 to 11 or 9 to 12 others...with e-ride nights. Disney would not have extended its hours from 9 to 9 some nights and 9 to 10 others to these new hours were the parks not exceptionally crowded. Also, I expect MGM will be open 9 to 10, not 9 to 9, with two showings of Fantasmic! a night.

I never understood the big gripe with lines. Some of our best times have been spent chatting with other people in line while waiting for an attraction. Fast Pass is great but it really screws up the "posted wait times". Before Fast Pass, if the posted wait time said 60 minutes, it was, you could count on the accuracy and plan accordingly. Sorry, got off the subject. I've only been to WDW once "off season", on my honeymoon. Some of the atmosphere is missing when there isn't enough people walking around. I don't mind the crowds and don't mind the lines.

Yeah, the lines don't really bother me either. I tend to get a Fastpass for one attraction - get in line for another and by the time I'm done - the Fastpass is ready to be used. The only gripe I have is when there is an hour wait for Space Mountain and they have only one track open because there aren't enough CMs on duty to operate both. That's just poor planning.

That's a new perspective! My feeling is always less lines, more time to do stuff. And the people are so much more relaxed-- I have truthfully met more (and nicer) people during the off-times than during the busy times. That's Spring Break vs September-- maybe it is different at other times of the year.

people smoking in lines bothers me...regardless, I have never waited as long as the posted wait time, anyway. Disney generally overshoots the times so guests don't get angry. Fastpass has not made the lines for E-Rides any longer in terms of wait...they simply move slower. If you go by the Tower of Terror and see a 120 min. wait time...trust me, it would have been the same length five years ago at the same time of year. People really need to stop complaining about Fastpass...I think it's a gift.

I went memorial weekend ,the MK was packed , the others weren't that bad. Got stuck on Primeveil Whirl for 10 mins , they had to get us out of the ship, ride was closed for half the day, they gave us a fastpass to get back on it when it was operational.

The only problem we had was at MK , the Strollers: children who can not fit or old enough to walk. We got ran over by so many strolles, got knoked down by one watching the parade(rammed eight in the back of my legs) ,plus there was nine to 12 year olds beinning pushed around by parents or the small child that was to be in them.I have never saw such lazyness and cast members don't say nothing to the parent .

Even when we went to city hall and complained they told us it was not there responsibilty to parent the parent.Thats how accidents on attractions happen.

HEAR HEAR!!! The people that complain about FastPass are the people that either A...have never used it...or B...don't know HOW to use it to their advantage.

And I suppose the wait time "magically" stays the same? You just invalidated your own argument there. I have the hard numbers from Fastpass, and trust me, Fastpass has made lines considerably longer. For example, when the heck was the last time you saw a wait of over 30 minutes for the Haunted Mansion before Fastpass? Now it is par for the course.

Does anyone think that the 4th of July crowds will dwindle about a week after the holiday? I'd think they would, it would be when everyone would be leaving...

I've never gone to Orlando in the summer, and I doubt I ever will! The only plus I see is that the hours are longer, but what good are longer hours if you have to stand in line like 4 times longer than you would if you went in the winter? I went in March this year instead of our usual January visit, thinking that we would get more done because of the slightly longer hours. man, was I wrong!

We always go in July - so the crowds seem pretty normal to us! I do bring strollers for my kids though - they are NOT lazy or unfit, but early in the holiday they are very jetlagged (8pm to you is 1am to them!! and if the parks don't close until 11pm.......) and later on they just get very tired with the miles and miles that they need to walk - we do park the buggies and only bring them out when they are needed though- and I am a very experienced driver!! It's a tough call - kids in strollers, sleeping peacefully, or tired kids who tend to be less than patient! As a parent - I know what I choose - it's my holiday too!!
