Please don't crucify me for this post....as I know there is already a thread on it but no matter how much I search I can't find it! I remember reading on here that there is a croc/gator ( I dont know the dif) in MK? Is this true? Does anyone have pics of it? Anyone ever seen it?
Again sorry for the post but I'm really rather intrigued.

There are various sightings at various times of various gators on the WDW property due to its location in a watery area of Florida where alligators are indigenous.
Do not pet them.

Lmao thanks for the response guys! Mumsy now believes me that there is a chance she'll get munched when she goes to WDW (even though the chances are ever so slim haha)

Last time we stayed at Port Orleans we took the boat over to DTD several times. On one of the trips around dusk time our captain actually pointed out two in the water!

I once saw a 4ft. gator walking down the sidewalk at night near the McDonald's at the entrance of the ALL Stars. I have seen them in my back yard so I didn't think to take a picture.

Others have commented on the existence of an alligator on WDW, but as for the difference between them and crocs, here is what Wikipedia says:

While alligators are often confused with crocodiles, they belong to two quite separate taxonomic families.
The most obvious external differences are visible in the head—alligators have wider and shorter heads, and a more U-shaped than V-shaped snout. The alligator's upper jaw is wider than its lower jaw, and the teeth in the lower jaw fit into small depressions in the upper jaw. The upper and lower jaws of the crocodiles and caimans are the same width, and teeth in the lower jaw fall along the edge or outside the upper jaw when the mouth is closed. When the crocodile's mouth is closed, the large fourth tooth in the lower jaw fits into a constriction in the upper jaw. For indistinguishable specimens, the protruding tooth is the most reliable feature to define a species.[10]
Alligators lack the jagged fringe which appears on the hind legs and feet of the crocodile and have the toes of the hind feet webbed, not more than half way to the tips. Alligators strongly prefer freshwater, while crocodiles can better tolerate saltwater due to specialized glands for filtering out salt. However, both taxa can survive in either.
Both species of alligator also tend to be darker in color than crocodiles—often nearly black (but color is very dependent on water quality). Algae-laden waters produce greener skin, while tannic acid from overhanging trees can produce often darker skin.
When cleaning alligator pools, some zoo keepers can tread on alligators without eliciting a response, though crocodiles almost invariably react aggressively and are for the most part more aggressive in their natural habitat.[11]

I may be wrong, but my guess is if you're seeing it at WDW, it's an alligator. While I have heard of a type of freshwater crocodile in Florida, for the most part, I was under the impression that crocs are mostly found in Africa and alligators are what you're likely to find in Florida, Louisiana, etc. While I have never actually seen it, I have no doubt that, if people claim to have seen one, it's probably there. WDW was built on swampland and as common as alligators are in Florida anyway, I have no doubt that alligators will find their way into the waters of WDW. And when you see all the undeveloped woodland surrounding the Magic Kingdom, I have no doubt that alligators could make their way through those woods and into the water a the MK.

According to the Florida Museum of Natural History, Florida has alligators, crocs and caiman.

**DUMB AMERICAN QUESTION ALERT** Do they have lizards in Ireland? I have lived in FL all my life and am always surprised when people freak out over a lizard.

Have a great trip and tell your mom that Mickey won't let her get eaten.

They are in abundance in the Living With the Land ride. There are dozens in there. They are all about 3 feet or under though. WDW removes them when they get larger. At times the boat comes within about 4 feet of them. Totaly true, just ask anybody. Any CM will verify this.

I was once making that walk and saw a big dang black snake slithering around on the sidewalk, couldn't tell what kind though, I didn't get close enough. I'm from Louisiana and we have an abundance of gators too.

Slow worms....quickly Googles...legless lizards, cool!

If you rub their bellies do they go to sleep like lizards?
