Going to WDW in Oct was going to take a play pen but I remembered WDW also carries cribs. Just curious on how clean, comfortable, sturdy, etc they are?..Just trying to decide which one would be best..

Thanks!

Their cribs are ok. They're clean but not the sturdiest from what I remember. When I go down (which is about 3-4 times per year), we usually rent from an outside company called A Baby's Best Friend (www.abbf.com). They will deliver the crib to your hotel and leave it with the luggage area. When you arrive, you tell the front desk you rented from an outside service which should be in the luggage area and they will bring it to your room.

They do not set it up or break it down (both are easy to do) but they will also pick it up from your room when you leave. You just have to call bell services. They're very reasonable, the items are very clean and they are very dependable. I highly recommend them. We've rented double strollers, bed rails (before I knew I can get them free from Disney), toys, toddler beds, swings and more.

Give them a shot and enjoy your trip.

They are the regular portable crib set ups. They are clean, but I brought my own sheet and blanket from home (as well as some pads in case of an accident). Mousekeeping also left a diaper genie when they saw we had a little one.

When we last used one (2003) we were at the All Stars. It was a pack n play just like I have at home. I took my own sheets though. I thought it was a nice one and it was very clean.

Depends where you stay too. The GF and BC have real metal cribs which are quite nice. WL has a pack n play which was fine too, but my 18 month old son really liked the crib at the GF.

When we went last September, my son was 10 weeks, and there was a Pack N Play at AKL. We thought it was nice. It was compact, clean and great to fold away. I had no complaints about it. I don't know what they will give us at the Poly in 11 days, but I'm sure it will be great! I don't bother with a sheet-I don't want to pack anything I will not need. Mouse keeping changed the sheet daily. I'm hauling half my house already!

I too brought my own sheet for it. I bought it at Target for a few bucks. That way I could wash it at home first. I was worried about the detergent they used being to strong for DS skin.

Just simple pack and play at All-Stars. They did provide a Mickey sheet, but I brought our own plush sheet to use instead, glad I had it, added a little padding as well. DS slept well in it.

Depending on what resort you get - you'll most likely get a play pen/pack n play for a crib anyways, so don't worry about bringing your own.

With the following exceptions...

If you're going during a holiday week - I highly recommend bringing your own... as I've had people report that there were no cribs available during the busier weeks of the year - which is a major bummer... where else do you put a baby?! So Easter week, or Christmas week... I'd say bring your own just to be safe.

Secondly... I have an extrememly tall toddler that doesn't fit into the disney pack n plays... we bought a graco xl pack n play and I'm so glad we did - who knew she's grow out of the smaller one's so quick? certainly not her short daddy or short mommy. Anyway... if you have an oversized pack n play - you may want to consider bringing it as the disney one's are a standard size - and my 36" 18 month old couldn't stretch out in it. :)

We got a real metal crib on our request at WL. It served its purpose so we were happy with it. It was sturdy & trustworthy. She usually fell asleep first in our bed and we moved her over to the crib w/o her waking up so it must have been comfortable to her. :) Mousekeeping was so nice when they came and set it up. We are going to request one again in December for the little one.

This is a bit off topic, but this thread reminds me of a holiday when DD was nearly 1. We had gone to Austria and asked for a crib in the room, but there was a gap in the base of the crib big enough for a baby to fall out! There was a spare bed in the room, so we lined our empty suitcase with the spare quilt, and she slept in there - very well too!

Thank you for all the input. Sounds like a majority of you approve of them, and it sounds like it's more pack n plays that are provided with the exception of deluxe resorts gets cribs. I plan on taking my own sheet because of the detergent issue. My daughter has very sensitive skin. Also one of you had mentioned about bringing my own if there's a holiday. We're arriving the day before Halloween so should I be worried?

We used one years ago with our youngest son. It was clean, but as said it was sturdy but wiggled alittle. If your worried about whether it's clean or not, just bring the disinfecting wipes and wipe it down. They have bleach so they will kill anything that might concern you. :animwink:

I wouldn't worry about Halloween. That's a slow*ish* time of year. Over the last few years the crowds have increased due to the festivals and parades they offer at that time - but it's still not a peak time in WDW...

Sounds like you're planning early! Good for you! :) This site has a wealth of great information!!! Enjoy your trip!

Just one word of warning......not sure where you are staying, but........we came down for a week at the Contemporary last year and, at the last minute decided to leave a day early and stay one night at the All Star Movies......we requested a crib and it was promtly brought to the room, but absolutely STUNK of cigarette smoke.

We're not the type to complain, so we didn't even use it that night. The one at the Contemporary was fine, though.
With WDW resorts going smoke free in June, this may not be a problem anymore.....then again, the smoke may have come from an employee.

It WREAKED!
