ah yes, backmasking is what we called it in the 70's. This was big in Christian circles to spin the records backwards and see what "hidden" message was in them. Leaders in the church were saying that these artists were Satanists and were brainwashing the "youth of today." Now that we progressed to cassettes in the 80's and CD's in the now, backmasking is a dinosaur. Heck, we used to spin our records backwards just to see what might be on there. What a great marketing tool for the record companies!

I used to print a little warning on my drawings and illustrations that said: "Warning: contains backwards christian messages"

speaking of a backwards Christian message:

Record yourself saying: "We smell sausage"

Then play it backwards.

Toward the end of the first side (second side if you still have one of those old black "record things") of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" there's a "real" example of backward masking.

Back in the days before computers, my friends and I recorded it onto a cassette, tore it apart and flipped the tape over to play it backwards. It says (as best I can remember): "Congratulations, you've just discovered the secret message. Send your response to Old Pink care of the Funny Farm, Chalfont"

You know, LP's, albums, 45's.... Our kids have no idea what a 45 is (was). Or a dial telephone.

I love my mom's old 45 collection, Joni Mitchell, Beatles, Elvis, Commodores......
I personally prefer Vinyl to any other format. Granted that it's larger and not as high-quality, but the ambiance of the the recording is so good due to it being analog.

When I found out that the Kill Bill Vol.1 soundtrack came out on Vinyl I had to get it, I got it sent to England though - I have no LP player here in Canada with me

As for the telephone, I remember our old rotary telephone, it was a huge black monster that was permanently wired into the house phone circuit (no plug on the end) as was standard for the phones rented from the GPO (it came in with your line rental each month I think).

I'm only 19 yet sometimes I feel so old......

I love LP's.

I JUST found a record I have been looking for for nearly 10 years.

I went to the goodwill last weekend in Pensacola and started rumaging through the old LPs.

And there it was! "The Magic Islands". Long out of print. This one had the guy's name who originally bought it written in the cover and the date -- 1957.

Now, I just need to find a phonograph so I can create a CD of this :)

That's my favorite backwards "message"
But then again it came off of my favorite album...
