Looking out my balcony window from Bay Lake Tower and spotted two cranes outside, one near the castle and the other near Splash Mountain. I would assume they're taking the lights down and maybe painting the exterior, respectively?

Yes light removal for the castle and track installation on Splash.

I heard they are thinking of changing the entrance signs to read:

WELCOME TO WALT DISNEY WORLD - CRANE & WALL CAPITAL OF THE WORLD

Cool. Can't wait for more, thanks! :D

Did they fill in the bannister on that staircase on the backside? Never remembered it to be solid.

LOL I had to double check with a photo to confirm, but there were filled in previously, it's not new.

I've seen cranes at WDW ... and blue herons ... and egrets ... and all kinds of sea gulls and duckies (I even know a few ... one is Donald and he really digs this other one named Daisy!) Wild stuff!

I'll be curious to see the level of progress when I'm back down there in June. Five-six months should give an idea of how they're progressing, at least with the early stages of the expansion....

No, I'm not saying you won't see any, I'm saying you're gonna have to wait a while.

They were clearing/flattening out the land last week. Foundations mush be done, etc, before vertical construction starts.

True.

And they've started doing site work???? I didn't notice anything going on back there from Toontown or FL last week. They must be working quietly.

And if so, must not need a permit to do earthwork in Orange County.
