I know this has been discussed to death, and many of you feel that its the only way to maintain the magic..... BUT....

Most castles around the world were created long before the advent of cranes, so how did the stone masons manage them, perhaps its more difficult with fibre glass and plastic.:)

I guess if they had used REAL stone....they wouldn't have to paint and repair it every decade or so. ;)

In the middle ages, craftsmen used scaffolding and falsework, which would be erected and stay in place for YEARS while a structure was being constructed and/or repaired. We all should be happy that modern technology minimizes the negative visual effects of these repairs.

The alternative is looking at a giant cage around the castle, just like ones used on the Washinton Monument and the Statue of Liberty. How do you think that would affect the magic?

It was actually a rhetorical question. We are talking about exterior decoration of a large surface area not the Cistean Chapel. And I was extracting the urine:)

I actually like heavy construction equipment. I enjoyed seeing the crane at the Epcot wand. I would much rather see a large crane next to the castle than the awful cake covering.

Go into Magic Kingdom news on the main site it has one pic but it isn't fantastic, I don't know if you have seen this before.

I took that picture, lol, and the crane was not the focus, it was just an accidental bi-product......any clue where that was taken?

OK..

I was there tuesday. I tell ya, I had to STRUGGLE to see the crane.

And, the roofs look like complete crap. The castle does need a refurb. Oh.. one other thing... It seems that it really doesn't effrect the magic for that long, since the park was only open til 6 anyways.

I agree 100% with all your comments, they are doing a good job of keeping it out of the way. And I could not agree with you more about the park hours, the MK should not close early!!!!!!

This isn't closing early.

6 is the regular closing time, and has always been publish as being so.

Sometimes it may stay open later, that is not the same as closing early.

I KNOW THAT!!! But this IS the part of the year they close early as opposed to other peak times of the year. Years ago, they used to have much better hours for the MK. You misunderstood what I am saying.
