In the article, do you mean between 11:30pm and 7:00 am? Or 11:30am to 7:00pm? (I assume the former?)

Edit: or is it really all day and night, and they take a break for a few hours in the evening? Just wondering about the shifts they would take.

It is not really a break. The parks do not fully clear out for guests until an hour or two after closing.

It's the only two times of the year when the castle wants to look like something familiar......

So we will be visiting over January 25th - Feb 1st and it looks as if the crane will be in operation throughout the day. Did I read the post right that the Crane will be in operation from 11:30pm to 7:00pm daily? I am hoping that one of those times is missing an AM.

Please tell me I am crazy but the crane kind of takes away from the experience. I do understand that they need to remove the lights and refurbish the castle but it seems like all refurbishments this year are taking longer.

For example, monorail, splash, castle.....ect

What a bummer for our trip on Jan 25th.

Eh it's common around this time..I Start my trip on the 27th and it was the same around this time last year..
Also they don't launch the pyro during Dream Along with Mickey..I at first thought they would....Then when I saw the Monster crane...No pyro was launched..

....I'm sure they can 'work' the crane into the show routine to make everyone feel like they had the appropriate level of 'magic' that they paid for ....

Once again, 2014 seems to be the year for long refurbishments and added headache.
I would rather WDW spent the time and money on long refurbishments to get the attractions in the park up to the standards they should be at. I'd be happy if WDW only did refurbs on the current rides they have for the next two years. But it does suck when you visit the parks and the big rides are down.
