How do they determine if you're going to be a face character or not?
Do they generally only choose the "pretty people" for that?

Quite frankly the entertainment department would be screwed without CPs. They have a hard time staffing as it is, the college program is really beneficial in that way. Also think about all the people that start as CPs and decide to go full-time. I think that's one reason they train CPs, a CP who gets to experiance a show or parade is going to be a happier CP and a CP more likely to want to stay or come back.
I guess it's hard to staff with people who meet all the requirements. And the turnover rate is very high.
Sounds like it. Friends of mine in entertainment are really encouraging me to audition because they said they need the help.
Are my chances better if I apply as seasonal or part-time?
That's the thing nobody knows what Disney needs..I've been waiting and waiting in the 'Character Pool' 3 times!! They say there are too many people in my height range, but what the heck? The hire all these CP's, and then they don't need help, because they are cheap labor. And what is the turnover rate of characters progroupie?
Sometimes I wonder as well what goes into hiring face characters. There are a few who I feel are completely wrong for the part they are playing.
And while there are a lot of pretty girls and boys, that doesn't mean you can be made to look like the face characters. But I don't know what the qualifications are.
I imagine turn over can be high for face because you have maybe 10 years to do it and if you are really serious about performing, you probably want to take it to another level higher than being a character in a park. I don't know.
I think the very best face characters, in terms of guest interaction should be saved for the meet and greets and the average face character that just looks pretty and can dance should be saved for parades and shows. One or two of our face characters think that the guest should be happy just standing next to them and they don't have to interact a lot.:brick: Fortunately there are many more that can really make magic.
They just look at you in your general audition and decide to train you. I think it's mostly about your face shape and nose, to me that's what stands out the most when I compare face characters, they usually have the same facial features as each other.
You start to recognize the facial features as well.
There is a CP in merchandise that could easily have been one of the princesses. She said she tried, but they didn't get back to her in time and she had to choose.
There is a lady on one of the news stations in the Central Florida area that looks as if she could have been a princess 10 years ago.
And some of our princesses have gone on to be trainers and managers and you can also guess which princesses they were.
Usually, if you can do Jasmine, you can do Pocahontas. If you can do Belle, you can do Ariel and Mary Poppins. If you can do Cinderella, you can do Aurora. Snow White and Mulan seem to be an entity on there own. Some girls can do Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, and a Step sister. Some do Wendy and Cinderella and Aurora. Some do Alice and Belle. There are weird combinations. There is one woman who does Snow, Cinderella, Aurora, I think Ariel, Giselle, Belle and goodness knows what else. She is amazing. And now fairies have been thrown into the mix. A lot of girls auditioned and were fitted to be fairies. I don't know what 'being fitted' means. Maybe one of you do.
i believe it's in their contract to be trained in at least two things while on property.
