I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the states that are most aggressively getting people vaccinated are continuing to see declines in COVID cases and hospitalizations. I’m happy to be an Ohioan under 40 that already has my first dose complete. It pains me to see other states still only vaccinating those over 50 or 60. Get a move on!!!

What states are you referring to because I am not seeing that in the data? States with the most increase over the past two weeks are NJ, NY, Michigan, Rhode Island and Connecticut. NJ, NY and Michigan are in the middle of the pack in doses per 100K residents, and Rhode Island and Connecticut are near the top.

Here are the case trends for the states with the top 5 most doses per 100K

I just about did walk out but thankfully, everything was worked out. It made me very mad, though.
I would be too. This is already stressful enough as it is.
So there is a gym in my area that is offering free memberships to people who agree NOT to get vaccinated. This same gym defied the lockdowns by opening when they were not allowed to.
I've seen likely this one in the news. Quite disgusting to me.

Still no card here, but have a letter at least. Still didn't try it out at Krispy Kreme to see if they'd accept it lol

Yeah, I live in CT and our numbers are increasing, although the Governor suggested today that it is mostly those under 30 being reckless, so he doesn’t expect a huge spike in hospitalizations or deaths. We shall see.

If I'm not mistaken, Moderna is going all the way down to age 6 months with their trial. I wonder why Pfizer is taking the step-wise approach down in age.
Moderna‘s study goes down to 6 months but they are doing that trial in phases so they are starting older and working down as well. They are just combining it all into one big trial. I’m not sure if that means Moderna will wait until the end to announce results of if they will do it in phases which makes sense.

Anyone recall when the Pfizer 12-15 study began? They are apparently about ready to report, and I want to say it was 6 months total. I understand hedging (even 200m doses in 100 days is not particularly ambitious—it’s maintaining the current status quo), but still don’t get claims that vaccine won’t be ready for kids until early 2022. Perhaps they are suggesting they’ll be available to all kids by then? Obviously, studies in infants and toddlers could be expected to take longer, but going through the scheduling in my head, I can’t see the current 5-11 group finishing any later than Halloween as long as there aren’t problems.

Edit: FDA approved enrollment of kids 12-15 in mid-October 2020. So, yes, 6 months.
They started enrolling in Oct but the trial wasn’t full until end of January. They need a minimum of 2 months of safety data on at least 50% of the trial participants to qualify per the FDA guidelines so it’s more of a timing from 50% enrollment vs the start. I think it will be much quicker to fill the trials now. Back in October we didn’t even know if these vaccines would be approved and particularly which ones. Now that the vaccines are approved, highly used and perfectly safe in adults there is a lot less risk with enrolling your child. At least for the Moderna trial they are also doing a 3 to 1 ratio where 3 kids get the vaccine vs 1 in the placebo group. This is being done to encourage enrollment since now your chances of getting the actual vaccine are much higher than a 1 for 1 trial.

My gut says if the start filling these trials today in a month or 2 at most they will have a dose picked for the bigger trial and then will need 2 months for safety. So if the first phase goes until June 1 then they have the safety data by August 1 and a few more weeks to get FDA approval. It’s possible that the vaccine is approved before Labor Day and younger kids start getting vaccinated. That’s probably best case. I agree that there‘s no reason the 12-17 aren’t approved for Pfizer and Moderna by the start of Summer at the very latest. I would expect the results in the next few weeks. And a few more to get FDA approval. I wouldn’t rule out May 1 for at least Pfizer to be approved.

I don’t wish ill will on anyone, but if there was ever a person who deserves a severe case of Covid and some long haul symptoms it’s that guy. It’s one thing to defy covid protocols in the name of your business and livelihood, that I can at least understand to some extent, but to fight against the vaccine is truly disgusting. What a piece of garbage.

It’s too soon to see the full impact of vaccines. Most states are just opening to the young and healthy or haven‘t opened yet and the young are much more likely to be spreading Covid. It takes up to 6 weeks from first jab to full immunity so in a state like FL where it’s open to the general public the first week in April it will be as late as mid-May before the first people to go are fully immune. In theory there is a high level of protection even after shot 1 (see the UK), so it’s possible we start to see the drop sooner. I do fear there will be a backlash against the vaccines where people will point to the cases today as evidence they don’t really work, just like people pointed to case numbers within a week after reopening things last Summer and declared victory over the virus and a month later cases were skyrocketing in a large number of places. It takes time.

He is on my list also. He joins the guy who I saw purposely cough in a grocery worker's face as the worker told him they were out of the product he wanted, as he said "now you have covid too." Saw this happen at my local Shoprite. Real sicko.

For me it was the guy who beat up the teenager working at Sesame Place last Summer because he didn’t want to wear a mask and the kid told him he had to. He put the kid in the hospital and he was just doing his job.

These people are just jack plain and simple. The ones who beat up other, spit or cough on, even just decide to be generally a jerk. I don't wish ill on people but don't ever have an issue if karma bites them in the rear someday.

I've seen pictures of cast at theme parks attractions wearing vs mask and a face shield. Now I can figure out why.
