Not real? NOT REAL? Who are you saying not real?

EVERY Disney characters is based on a spirit. I spirit that is QUITE real and alive! No, Cinderella may not be real. But her character is...sure, a Cast Member may play Cinderella, but she is HELPING the Cinderella spirit by BEING that Cinderella!

The many forces behind characters are common, spiritual, and even moral. Let us love our bears! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

(You'll get to hug Big Al soon, Caroline. I promise! :D  :animwink: :) )

this is what I hate about walkaround character threads. Some smartass has to make the "they're not real" comment. Say that in the park and see how far that gets you... or how much of a jerk you'll look like in front of the little kid whose dream you crushed.

Yeah...might as well say there's no Santa Claus too...crush those dreams too...

SHARE A DREAM COME TRUE!!!

To some people...seeing that "fake" Mickey is a huge event...I know some people in their adult years that have never seen the Mouse...and that's one thing they want to do when they go...SEE THE MOUSE...why??? Because...it was all started by that MOUSE.

I'm 36 and I LOVE the Characters....I get so excited when I see them, I get just as excited as my daughter to spot a character. The characters give so much joy to so many people.....And Big Al is my favorite Bear

Shame Shame for saying they're not real :(

btw, Donald looks great...thanks mktiggerman!

Thanks for the info, MKTiggerman. Funny, though, I had never noticed that the CBJ bears were walk-arounds! I would have loved to have seen Big Al.

My question, though, is whether they were patterned after the audio-animatronics, or after the "hip, new" (bleh) movie bears.

BTW: the "are they real" discussion reminded me of one of my best memories of WDW as an adult. We brought an 18-year-old female friend with us on a trip a few years ago, partly because she had never been. She was so excited and awestruck like a child again for the whole trip. After a day at MK and evening at EPCOT, she innocently stated that she couldn't believe that we ran into Mickey Mouse twice, within such a short period of time and so far apart! She was amazed that he would in two places at nearly one time.... Needless to say we had a great memory after we all "discussed" it!!! :animwink:

they've been around since the 70's or 80's I think.

MKTiggerman,

Donald looks great in his new costume, but do you have a picture of his one of his old ones to compare? Maybe like a Donald thru the years? Do you know of a web site that might do this?

They just changed Donald Duck's costume like 2 or 3 years ago, why are they doing it again. He looks too chilidish, they need to keep the Disney characters the same and not change them at all. O yea and what are they gonna do with "The Country Bears" costumes and things. Thanks!

This is going to probably be a stupid question, Rob... but what exactly has changed with Donald?? I was just looking at my Donald pics from December and I don't know what the difference is from looking at your pic.

Seriously? Comparing the pic on this page with Rob's pic you can't tell the difference? He's thinner, rounder, much more like in TV!

Holy cow!! Thanks for the heart attack....the subject of this thread (Country Bears leaving MK?) made me think that they were closing the country bear jamboree....that wasn't cool:mad:

Exactly...his outfit also looks much sharper and more colorful now. The blue really stands out. He looks 110 times better now.

So you would like to see the original Minnie and Mickey's, 7 dwarfs, etc? They keep updating to make the characters look better as much as possible.

it was changed in 1997. Anyway, he was changed due to requests from the parks and Buena Vista. After Fantasia 2000, they wanted to return to a more classic look, rather than the Television animation one he had

LOL Can you imagine if they still had the same costumes. I love watching the DL opening day, with the characters. It's so funny to see what they looked like then. Thank goodness for progress.
