I think that Greece would give WDI a lot of possibilites for architecture and attractions. They could recreate the ruins that are scattered throughout the country, especially the temples. And Greek mythology could make for an incredible ride! This country just seem sto have the most possibilities to me, far beyond those I have mentioned.

I dont think a middle eastern pavilion would make anyone happy, well a few maybe. It would just be too controversial. Americans are very testy when it comes to these sort of things. Were all about politically correct and disney doesnt want to add a nation that might have ANY controversial nature behind it.

Plus I know I'm being blunt but I really wouldnt want to visit a place like Afghanistan, Iran or Iraq.

Now greece, that sounds good.

Let's go WS!

Of course, the country itself has to be willing to pay a wealthy American corporation (Disney) a ton of money to enhance the attractiveness of Disney's money-making theme park. That probably leaves out Egypt and India; their own poverty issues makes them unlikely to contribute millions and millions of dollars toward an American theme park.

That's not to say that any particular country wouldn't be great, but they have to able to contribute mightily to build the place, continue to pay money to keep its standards high, and recruit workers from the home countries to work here. That may leave out India, Egypt and Russia because they are currently too poor.

It may also leave out certain Islamic countries for their potential refusal to engage in certain types of commerce, and to work 365 days a year because of religious restrictions. Several Islamic countries have the wealth, and their inclusion in a world community showcase would be wonderful. However, I am wondering if the cultural and religious differences would be helped by having smart Islamic workers waiting on sweaty, overweight, and obnoxious Americans like me, while simultaneously enhancing the bottom line of one of America's wealthiest companies.

I am also concerned about how Disney could enforce certain contractual obligations and standards with a country that may not like getting ordered to do things from a bunch of American managers. There is an observation that no two countries that have a McDonald's has ever gone to war against each other. I know comparatively little about the Islamic world, but do any of the Islamic Middle Eastern countries have a McDonald's? If so, perhaps that is the country Disney should be soliciting.

Of the remainder, Australia, Greece, Spain, and Switzerland might be the most likely alternatives. They would all be great, but don't take away the host country. After all, a healthy percentage of World visitors are from other countries, and they might find the American Pavilion quite interesting. Furthermore, the American Pavilion is wonderful for Americans to get a boost of patriotism and education about home.

And don't take away any of the other countries. They are strong and viable, and if any of them lags behind the others too much, improvements are encouraged, if not mandated.

I have to say that AA is a great attraction to go to (I know nothing about America History)

I've always come out feeling proud to be an american (even though I'm from the UK !)

You guys just have so much pride in your country, you very rarely see that over here.

You know, with this line of reasoning, then that means we should rip out Disney's California Adventure--which is, after all, a California-based park in California....

Come to think of it, that's not a bad idea. :drevil:

Pretty slim premise... Although they may have not had McDonalds at the time, the U.S. has been at war with Germany, Japan and Italy, and then there was this "Cold War" with Russia for a few years... :animwink:

Technically, Russia had McDonalds before the wall came down.

Argentina and the U.K. had a war recently.

The former Yugoslav countries had a rather nasty civil war.

McDonalds as peacekeeper doesn't seem to hold up to scrutiny

More to the point, I think the cultures of Islamic countries would clash with the 24/7/365 current nature of a WS pavilion. Much as I would enjoy seeing a mid-east country represented, Disney would have to accept the pavilion being closed for religious reasons for periods throughout the year and even closed at sunset during certain times. If Disney's "culture" could accommodate their "culture", it might be do-able.

greece would be awesome to have in the WS though i agree

We are in America, but do you realize how many of the vistors to Epcot are not from America. It is an excellent attraction and should stay. I think Russia
would be a good choice.

I agree with your australlia one but I dont think they can take out Japan or China. Both have disney parks and Japan has a great resturant and China just got redecorated

A great barrier reef thing would be awsome:sohappy:
