Counting the days to June...a first PTR!

I've never attempted a trip report of any kind, but since I'm running out of activities to keep my mind off of the wait for June 2nd, here it go...

We'll be taking our family's 5th trip to WDW next month - a trip that has been many years in the making. Our first ever trip as a family was in 2007, but it was probably our trip in 2010 that really saw us become fanatics. The wife was bitten by the disney bug first, and it took me a while to catch it, but we're both pretty big dorks now!

So, for years now it's been our dream to stay at an Epcot resort - it's our favorite park, and we've always wanted to be able to stroll into WS in the evenings for dinner. So, to celebrate our 15th anniversary, after many months of saving, planning, and waiting we'll be checking into Beach Club Villas in a little over 2 weeks for 7 nights of disney fun! First, the cast and crew:

Myself, the DW, and our two DD's 14 and 3! (yes, 11 years between them - it's like having 3 parents!) Here's the wife and I with our youngest DD during her first ever trip to the World in 2010:

And our two daughters during a more recent trip in 2011:

Yes, the short one gets very excited any time the characters show up:

She's as big a disney dork as her parents! The 14yo decided last year that she was much too cool for WDW with the family, so we ditched her and took shorty for one last hurrah while she was still 2 (and thus, free!). Thankfully, our eldest's brief hiatus from the World has given her time to reflect on the error of her ways, and she's once again pretty excited about a trip to WDW (though she does her best to hide it most of the time...teenagers:rolleyes:)

So here's the plan:
Day 1 - travel day. Leaving around 6am for a roughly 6 hour drive down I-75, and straight on in to DTD for lunch at Earl. We'll probably hang around DTD for a while before heading over to check in at BC. Finally, we'll head over to the Poly for our dinner ADR at Ohana, followed by Wishes on the beach!
Day 2 - Rope drop at DHS! Mad dash for FP's for TSMM, and then our other favorites until early afternoon. Then, head over to WS at Epcot and wander around until our dinner at Via Napoli.
Day 3 - Full day at Epcot, followed by a late dinner at R&C, where we hope to watch Illuminations.
Day 4 - Rope drop at MK! New Fantasyland and dinner at BOG!
Day 5 - Resort day. Planning to spend most of the day at Stormalong Bay, with a possible Sea Raycer rental for the older DD. My parents will drive down from Daytona to watch the kids while the DW and I have a romantic dinner at Flying Fish!
Day 6 - MK with a pre-rope-drop breakfast at CP. We'll do everything we missed in MK. Not sure if we'll stay for Wishes or head to another park.
Day 7 - Likely Epcot in the morning, followed by the afternoon at DHS for SWW!
Day 8 - Departure day...but not before breakfast at Boma (one of our favorites), followed by a partial day in AK, before we drag ourselves away from our happy place!

Quite a few firsts on this trip - aside from the resort, our youngest will be tall enough to ride all but the most intense rides, so she'll be experiencing Splash, Soarin, TT, and possibly BTMRR for the first time. She doesn't like the jerky/rough rides, so we're hesitant to take her on BTMRR, but I think she'll enjoy the rest. We're hoping to add more great disney memories to those we've already experienced - counting down the days to another great WDW trip!

Sounds like a great trip lined up. We stayed at the BC in 2009 and the BC Villas in 2011 and had a blast. My guess is that your 14 yr old is going to love Storm-along-bay. My kids loved the sand bottom pool and the pirate boat (jib) slide. On the zero entry part of the pool you can sit at the edge and make sand castles. If you are on the dining plan, ice-cream cones at Beaches and Cream are considered a "snack". Being able to walk to Epcot is great and you can take the boat to DHS.

Hope you have an awesome time!

Thanks for the info! We're really looking forward to BC and SAB! This trip actually evolved from a shorter "parents only" trip we had planned to take back in January. We were going to stay at BC, but then decided we couldn't deprive our kids of that awesome pool. We probably would've spent most of the trip thinking about how we wished we'd brought them! So, we postponed and planned this one with the whole family.

No dining plan, but we will definitely be hitting B&C multiple times! Right now the plan is to walk to DHS in the morning (when it's cool) and then take the boat back in the afternoon.

Adorable girls. Now, that's a good lookin' tie dyed mickey head shirt.

My niece was like that.

Maybe, we'll run into each other!

Change of plans! Now going to move DHS to Tuesday, and are thinking Epcot for our first full day on Monday. We've really gone back and forth on when to do AK. The original plan was to do both Monday and Tuesday mornings at DHS and AK respectively, followed by afternoon and evening in Epcot. It may change again, but I think we'll enjoy Epcot as our first park.

Mid-trip update!
Just returned from Kona and some Tonga Toast, and now sitting in our room on our Resort Day, catching up on emails and work, while tropical storm Andrea has her way with the parks. Glad we chose today as a resort day, although a bit disappointed we won't get to spend more time at Stormalong Bay. We'll carve out a bit more time later in the week for swimming. I'm planning a full trip report later, but just wanted to throw out a few highlights of the trip so far:

First, the resort - Beach Club has been an awesome experience so far! We've learned what to expect from Disney resorts at this point. Even the deluxe resort rooms are nothing special - I'd compare the room itself to what you get at a nice Hampton inn, etc. However, the rest of the resort is just awesome. The ability to walk out of our building, hang a left, and be standing at the International Gateway is just beyond words! We're staying in a 3rd floor studio villa in BCV, with a balcony and view of the woods toward WS. We're able to see a fair portion of the fireworks from Illuminations each night, and are very close to IG. As I said, the room is small, and really nothing special. We had to get pretty creative with storing clothes, etc., but once we settled in we found that we're more than comfortable. The proximity to Epcot alone, in my opinion, is worth the every penny.

Other highlights so far include dinner at R&C on the patio, where we watched illuminations (in a slight drizzle), rope drop at MK yesterday, where we were in the first group for ETWB which was an excellent attraction, and dinner at BOG last night (in a downpour) was actually a great experience. After all the mediocre reviews, our expectations for BOG had been lowered a bit, but overall we were pleasantly surprised! We ate in the main dining hall, which was beautiful, and the food was good (my pork chop was decent, but my DD14 loved the shrimp and scallops pastry, and DW loved the salmon).

Crowds so far have been very manageable (though the weather during the last 24 hours may have something to do with that). The overcast skies have kept us relatively cool so far, and the rain really didn't impact us until yesterday evening, when we were returning to MK for our BOG reservation. It literally started pouring as we got off the bus. We were among a small handful of people actually entering the park, literally swimming upstream! Little one fell asleep in her stroller (under the cover) while we raced up main street and slept through half the dinner. She woke up in the dining hall of BOG, and wanted to go outside to see "the snow" she could see in the faux windows!
The pool is just amazing - we spent some time swimming Monday night after dinner at Via Napoli, and we able to watch the fireworks from both Illuminations and DHS from the pool. Our 3yo is in love with SAB - she literally pranced around the sandbar area giggling for over an hour.

The rain has put a minor damper on what has been a fantastic trip so far, but we aren't ones to let a little water keep us down. We can poncho-up with the best of them, and it looks like it may clear up after today. Here's hoping!
