Counting Down

We are 79 days! So very close! It has me thinking of doing a countdown of some sort. So, thought I would ask all my friends. How do you countdown? Do you do anything special or fun? Have any cool ideas for kids?

Hahaha! You should make one! I want to make one for my December '14 trip, but I'd need a HUGE jar...

I have two Disney trips coming up, I should do 2 jars!!! LOL Of course, my husband would eat them by the handful LOL I am definately doing this!! Thank you for the idea!!!! xoxo

The rest of me is failing but my memory is still good..YES!
Although maybe my memory is failing too because I didn't remember seeing that picture of the clown pool in your collage...OMG..I just started to get some sleep again after @disneysince71 's post of that creature.....oh well back to staying on the boards all night...

I decorated a jar and filled it with M&Ms and ate one each day.

This is a GREAT idea however this is how this idea would play out for me:

1.Decorate Jar
2.Get 3lb bag of Peanut or Pretzel M&Ms to fill Jar
3.Calculate days until Disney ok - 98 Days!
4.Begin counting out M&M..alright..that's 1 for the jar 2 for me...another for the jar...3 for me..yeah this work is making me hungry...ok another for the jar...5 for me...hmm..these things are good aren't they..1 more for the jar...a handful for me.
5. Fast forward 30minutes - My trip is 3 months away, I've gained 3 pounds and the jar says I've got 15 days until our trip.

We do something a little different....instead of a count down it is more a count up.
We will start saving in a big old jar...put in a dollar or two a day......

One thing I do: I copy off the months calendar page. In every day's block I draw something related to a ride, resort, Disney character, something on property. Then label each days countdown number. On the weeks day I color the block in a bright color and label to celebrate 3 wks to go, 2 wks to go 1 wk to go...Then in bright red 10,9,8,7etc. I decorate the calendar with assorted Disney stickers, some that I got at Disney, others that came in the mail with Disney type promotions that I saved. Each day I've got something different to think about on my upcoming trip. Today for example I have the partners statue on the hub drawn in todays block.

I have made a chalkboard countdown for myself, my husband drew the Mickey head on one ear it says days. the other til and in the middle we change it...

My son does the jelly bean/ M&M countdown every day he has enjoyed seeing the candy disappear little by little....

For the first time in 8 years I am NOT on a count down I had a baby in May ( going Dec 2014) i made my screen saver how many days left I also have an app on my phone that counts down

I love that idea. I got this app for my ipad mini called countdown and you can put backgrounds and of course I put a pic of Cinderella castle.

I'd write numbers in the corner of my calendar to let us know how many days were left. I was more excited than my son, though, lol. Occasionally, he'd tell me how many were left (or ask), but I was the one counting down.

The M&M thing would not work for me.

No countdown, except for the how long thread because, last yr, we finally stayed at the Poly. I think I booked the trip in Nov or Dec 2011 for Aug 2012. My DDs were excited to be going back to Disney after 2 1/2 years, but it was more like, ok we're going to WDW, whats for dinner.

Got another PIN code and booked the POR this past Feb, didn't tell the DDS figuring we may have to cancel. Well, not a day goes by where they are not dropping hints about wanting to go back to WDW. If they see a cloud in the sky the looks like a hidden micky, its a sign, when I wear my Grumpy shirt, its a sign. Now they can't stop talking about a trip they wish will happen, not knowing we got out tickets, room, did the on-line check in and we are good to go.

So now its a covert countdown to our trip and for when we finally tell our DDs.
