Could Toy Story Land get an expansion or a additional ride?

I agree. I wonder how they could theme it or re do it to look like you are still in Toy Story Land. If there is also space maybe they could build a Al's Toy Barn in the space?

Yeah I think the fact that they went with the backyard as the theme does make it hard to create indoor spaces. My best idea would be the original boxes for the characters. Or some kind of Al's Toy Barn shipping box that has the character display boxes inside.

The only way I could see it working (And it's a stretch) would be to have the "Al's Toy Barn" building created from what appears to be a barn-themed storage container for barnyard animal toys with the facade accented by a giant store receipt or coupon acting as the store's signage. For additional visual interest and to further sell the "Al's Toy Barn" theming a giant Etch, from Toy Story could continuously sketch a likeness of "Chicken Man" near the entrance. Crappy idea.

But there's really very little space to work with. The best Imagineering could do now is simple little outdoor attractions. RC's Splash Zone, Sketch with Etch, etc. A and B ticket filler. Unless Imagineering and TDO develop around the coaster, which regrettably uses up a good 1/3 of TSL there's little room to incorporate additional attractions. Poor use of the land kinda put a kibosh on expansion.

I haven't seen many folks post about this so I guess I'm in the minority in my train of thought, but....

I always wondered why they didn't build a newer technology version of space ranger spin in Toy Story Land. That way, they would have gotten the benefit of refreshing the technology and freeing up the space in MK for something else while not taking Buzz's SRS offline at all (close MK attraction once HS version opens).

Because adding that attraction into TSL would mean they would have more than one shooter ride in the same area. I like the idea but they'd never go for that. What I would have liked would have been a Dinosaur type of attraction themed to TSL. Maybe something incorporating Toy Story 3 elements from escaping Sunnyside and then getting out of the waste disposal yard.

Upon further reflection and with help from @MisterPenguin in learning how to use Google Earth, while the space may work there's the issue of guests going under a coaster which Disney, by my recollection, has never done before likely because of safety reasons. So... back to square one I guess. Although I do think there is room for a RC splash zone area or even a little Woody's Roundup interactive game. In order to accommodate a Parachute Drop ride or the armchair relocation of TriceraTop Spin, Disney would have to install nets or "in theme" protection for guests.
In California Adventure the Incredicoaster goes over the entire Pixar Pier, queue lines run under it and the Inside Out ride is completely surrounded by it. Now that coaster was built with the pier so it was designed to have people walking within it.

So then it could work. Good to know. Maybe there's a chance TSL can add a new flatride or 2.

That would be a very cool idea.

Two shooting gun rides in one land would be boring. Yes there are differences between Space Ranger Spin and Midway Mania, but the basic premise is quite similar.

A small playground seems like a no brainer to me, or even a carousel since one was featured so prominently in the last TS movie. Its weird to me that at WDW there is only one carousel where DL has 2. Seems an animal themed one at AK and another in Epcot in say Italy or Germany would blend in perfectly.

That's the trouble with immersive theming....it paints you in a corner.

Because you're supposed to be in Andy's backyard, there are no carousels.

It's like what they did with Galaxy's Edge. Because it's during the Disney movies, you're not going to any popular characters like Darth Vader or Boba Fett walking around because one is ashes and the other is sarlacc poop.

No, the best you're going to get is Darth Kyle, the Revan wannabe.

Boba Fett is Schrodinger's cat right now.

Follow up after checking area in question in Google Earth. The space mentioned could theoretically accommodate:

1) TriceraTop Spin - would fit there perfectly and allow for a better, more detailed switchback queue. Not ideal but it'd give TSL another attraction. DAK would lose it's spinner but Dinorama's been a dud for a while now. Re-themed to Trixie from Toy Story 3.

2) Green Army Men Parachute Drop - also works in this space but height plays a factor. Queue space would be trickier to develop. Not sure if it would have sightline issues but a possible workaround could be to give guests a "Top Secret Mission" to find targets located in TSL to further prevent their eyes from wandering toward the horizon where sightline issues are most prevalent.

3) Other options? A character-themed Musik Express (WDI used SlinkyDog in the International parks) Tilt-a-Whirl (Barrel of Monkeys?) etc.
Something as simple as a giant sprinkler head for a Splash area could be developed as a fun way for children to cool off. It's worth-noting that R.C. the remote control car character in the Toy Story franchise sports some "splashy" decals on his spoiler and vehicle body. Just say'n.

There's still room without expanding TSL should TDO/WDI wish to explore similar options.

Space is definitely a concern, and TriceraTop Spin has a very small radius at ~50-55 feet. Among Toy Story rides from around the world, Green Army Men Parachute drop is ~65 feet, Jessie's Critter Carousel is ~75 feet, and Slinky Dog Zig Zag Spin is ~45 feet. TriceraTop Spin rethemed to Trixie is probably the best idea because it would be pretty inexpensive, although I hate to see DAK lose a ride, even a small one, when it does not have too many to begin with. Slinky Dog Zig Zag would need to be rethemed because Slinky Dog Dash exists, Green Army Men Parachute drop is tall and may show backstage areas, and Jessie's Critter Carousel is probably too big unless Disney spends even more money to reroute something else.

i think if you want to have darth vader or boba fett, they should expand star wars land to where muppet vision is, because lets be honest, that ride, as much as i love it, isnt gonna last. replace that with tatooine and retheme backlot express to endor, and bam! you can represent all three trilogies! you could even have darth maul! and a podracing ride! and you can keep star tours!

No. Given its 1930s warehouse aesthetic and its proximity to the stunt show, Backlot Express would most likely be rethemed into an Indiana Jones restaurant.

And the stunt show closed and replaced with an IJ water ride, featuring boats based on the Ford GPA.
