Just the same old thing about how bad Disney is now.
This is a thread about cost cutting….

I raved about my recent trip to Paris and last year I raved about the Art Festival. Heck… I even liked Tron even though I won’t ever ride the bike again - my back didn’t like it.

Disney is large and complex… they can make good decisions and mistakes and both should be discussed.

Right. With an emphasis on the both.

My #SaveDinosaur campaign has just been given hope!

We need additions, not replacements. Increase that capacity the park desperately needs and should get.

With that being said.....#SaveDinosaur and let's go get the dino.
Even if its false hope hope is key.

with little mermaid, villains, and the parade happening this year, I'm not too sure about that one since they all seem to be pretty far into development. But who Knows.
I think older live entertainment will be reduced/cut completely. I also wouldn't be shocked if the Pixar Shorts Theater/Magic Eye becomes a victim to budget cuts.

We are at the parks 4-6 time per year for around 7 days each trip and do multiple TS restaurants each trip. I just got back from a 13 day trip over Christmas/New Years, and we leave for a 9 night trip on February 8th. In 2024 we were there for 41 days over 6 trips. We are there a lot.

To be fair, some of that was also at Universal as we have AP’s for both parks, and we had Sea World Fun Cards one year.

In any event, over the 18 trips we’ve been to WDW since July of 2021 (only went twice that year, stupid Covid) the recent trend has been towards the parks, restaurants, etc being noticeably less crowded, especially in the last 6-12 months.
…yo Fido….we gotta talk 🤪

But... but... Bob and Hugh said "$60 BILLION" and "expansion" during a quarterly meeting!!!!11!! They can't lie!!! (looks at 4 new cruise ships alone potentially taking 10% of that. Plus many other projects around the world...)

Personally, I think 1 of those hits, and a second gets a "shave". Which ones? I'll leave that to everyone's imagination.

And it was repeated on podcasts…so the money is guaranteed

…that’s how this works. Keep up, rookie

So, lets set the odds:
1. Quiet/unannounced cancellation of Villains Land: 80 percent;
2. Cancellation of Cars Area, but only after they fill in ROA leaving an empty lot: 50 percent;
3. Cancellation of Monster Inc Land but only after they shut down Muppets: 40 percent;
4. Only half of new Tropical Americas gets done leaving Dinosaur behind unchanged: 70 percent;
5. None of Tropical Americas gets done, Dinosaur remains, rest of the land remains closed off indefinitely: 50 percent.

Thoughts? Other projections?

1. I’d say that one is almost certain to never happen…a “blue sky” misdirection by design to sell timeshares
2. That one I think is pretty assured. Like 75%. Only if water management is a headache Will they scrap that
3. Nah…that’s a go. Its ip bombardment and reskinned RNRC to call it something “new”. Not really a net add either…assuming no show ever arrives…just the door ride.
4/5. That’s a go…more ip bombardment. Though I bet what they’re planning is inadequate to provide Crowd relief or a new draw to dak. Gotta aim bigger.

We leave next week on what will be our third (of 5?) farewell to Dinosaur trip (last year, our kids did the boneyard for the first time ever, completed the wilderness explorer badges, and collected all the plush dinosaurs (along with Dino Institute Minnie and Mickey) that hadn’t sold out yet)…only one of the trips was specifically planned so we could visit Dinoland one last time, though it turns out we had a bit more time than we expected on the countdown to extinction (pun intended).

If cost cuts cause them to save Dinosaur (or just drop a few Harrison Ford animatronics into Dinosaur with a different pre show and vocal track?), I will be very happy.

I could definitely see them scrapping Indy and coming up with another concept for Dinosaur before it’s all said and done. My guess the reason it hasn’t gone down yet is because AK lacks so many rides now they couldn’t afford to take it offline just yet. We’ll see what happens.
Dinosaur hasn’t closed yet because that project won’t take as much time. Encanto requires significant site work and constructing an entire show building and ride system. All of that is already complete for Indy.

There is such a thing as being too close. Sometimes you have to stand back a bit for perspective, i.e., to see what most people see.
That’s true…

But not looking at things through that lens leads to consumer complacency…which is what a bad management wants and helps none of us.

Disney parks without a passionate core of fans will get chopped up for scrap by modern business practices..the slide has started

Dinosaur isn't closed yet for two simple reasons:

1) Park needs capacity.
2) It doesn't need to be down 2.5 years in order to complete it's re-do. It's probably similar to TBA - 1.5 years. The majority if it's work is being done now offstage and will continue until they start.

How many project have been scrapped after they have presented them at something like D23 along with physical models?

I can think of two times in the last decade off the top of my head and that was when leadership changed over. New Fantasyland changes when Staggs took over and EPCOT stuff like Cherry Tree Lane when Chapek took over along with the pandemic.

Hyperion Wharf, Play Pavilion, Main Street Theater, Pixie Hollow, etc. to name a few
