Man I’m getting worried about my September trip.

I really don’t want to have to cancel because mask mandates come back.

I have no problem following mask mandates but I’m sure not paying 12k to use one in 95 degree heat.

This is definitely an instance where each state being able to do what they want works against us.
No doubt. If our federal government had beat the states to the punch it might be different with the states having to go to court to overturn.

Now we're left with companies having to go to court with the state. Disney could try if they wanted to... but not sure they think that's worth money. It could be quite polarizing of their clients if they did. Not saying it's right or wrong, but unlike cruises that feel like they have little choice if they want to survive, Disney has a different set of worries is all.

My mother-in-law likes to give us a few hundred dollars to spend a weekend away someplace locally every year...she got all bent out of shape that we politely refused because anyplace we'd go would have tons of people in small spaces and our youngest is only 10, so unable to be vaccinated yet.

We likely wouldn't be traveling yet regardless of his vaccination status...mask mandates or not.

Disney parks do, yes, but Disney also has a stake in the cruise industry, as well.

We were there early June and while it was 95 out, it wasn't near as humid. Masks were required indoors for all at that time. We were all vaccinated so wasn't a concern either way. More importantly crowds were less. Even dining was not full capacity until towards the end they started adding more. It was a great time to go really.

I have a solo trip in Nov. What will be will be and if it's lousy I can cancel 31 days out with no penalty for DVC. SW points too so no big on flights. I think I should be fine. Especially after joining my last trial. I get the concerns though. September is brutal. Good luck deciding.

If this number is accurate, there are potentially thousands of breakthrough cases circulating in LA County.

Mask mandates are too late. Everything must close down again to prevent ICU beds in SoCal from reaching 0% again.

They need to stop referring to them as breakthrough cases. The vaccines are not a force field - they teach your body to handle the virus.

Except when those breakthrough cases spread to others who aren't fully vaxxed, that makes the virus more resistant to the vaccines.

Unvaccinated and vaccinated people need to stay at home.

Look at the percentages, less then a tenth a percent people with the infection, 4 thousandths of a percent are hospitalized, 1/2 a thousandth of a percent of death. Those risks are less then the chance of dying while driving or walking a city street. You’re sense of risk is way off.

This is the delta variant we're talking about. Those percentages will quadruple within a week or two.

Doubtful. That didn’t happen in the UK.
Scotland has already peaked and is going back down, hopefully the rest of the UK follows soon. In India the Uttar Pradesh (most populated state in India) is below pre-Delta numbers around down from the top of the spike at 33k/day avg to now just ~80 cases a day. 3 weeks to hit the case spike, then about 3-4 to drop back down based on that. Although that was without widespread vaccination.

Hasn't, but almost certainly will unless they cancel Freedom Day and go back into lockdown.
It’s like you think western style lockdowns provide better protection then vaccines, which is simply not true. Unless you are practicing Chinese style bolt door lockdowns, the vaccines are far, far, more effective then lockdowns, masks or social distancing combined. That’s why the CDC guidelines are what they are.
