The local news channel is trying to get answers as to the 1 million unused vaccine doses that are currently "somewhere" in FL. So, while releasing all the extra federal doses seems like a good thing, we still aren't even using everything we've been given, and local vaccine clinics are not able to meet the demand as they simply haven't been allocated enough. From the article: Flagler Cty has only received 1700 total doses, and Orange Cty has 24,000, which is earmarked for the next 2 weeks.

What a logistical mess.

Right - Disney already has a small army of healthcare workers taking temperatures at all 4 parks. Just have them give you your shot on the way into the park instead.

Be interested in how you feel tomorrow (which is when most of us had the minor side? effects of a ( good) immune response ).

I forget did you have Moderna or Pfizer?

One week post second shot is when they feel max immunity occurs. ( Not sure how they determine that ( perhaps phase 1 or 2 had daily blood samples after second shot)

A friend received their second dose yesterday. Other than a sore arm and feeling exhausted today, they are feeling ok.

2 new strains of the virus found in the US. Not exactly the great news we're all looking for.

Ohio researchers say they've identified two new Covid strains likely originating in the U.S.

Jason McDonald, a spokesman for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said in a statement to CNBC the agency is looking at the new research.

Anyone who thought it wasn't here already honestly had their head in the sand. This isn't anything but confirmation of what most already strongly suspected. Much like covid was here in Feb per friends who were sick and had antibody tests later.

As for loved ones with 2nd doses only one had more adverse side effects and it was Pfizer. Most reporting very little. Which matches up with the roughly 15% of people who take who do so far.

I actually did not mind the second shot minor side effects (Beyond just a sore arm) it made me confident that the immune system had a robust response.
The studies said the side effects were more prevalent in younger subjects ( I am not young, but not 65+ either).

It would be interesting to see if there is a correlation in duration of immunity or efficacy with having or not having side effects on second shot

Isn't there something they could do to change over the air much faster. Say replace all the windows with open bars.

Except they specifically say that this isn't the UK or South African mutation. This one is US-specific, but has similarities to those.

We know the virus has been mutating since the beginning; hopefully it's just making more news now after the UK variant caused huge spikes.

As another very long thread pointed out, that has a lot to do with inadequate ventilation too. If they did something to change over all the cabin air every minute. Perhaps with a soft breeze flowing through exchanging all the air for fresh outside air. That could solve both issues.

I will 100% agree, that without significant fresh air circulation, as is the monorail case today, all of those months are bad without A/C.

13 do NOT have a vaccination clinic scheduled
7 have a clinic scheduled later than the Governor's wish that they be held before Jan 15th

There are 917 assisted living facilities and other qualified facilities
221 do NOT have a vaccination clinic scheduled

Walgreens is contracted to provide for 654 assisted living facilities
189 of these do not have a clinic scheduled

Good data to have. the follow-up would be: do they have a plan for those that are not scheduled?

Ohio's governor said yesterday that 85% of LTC facilities in the state had received their first visit. That's a pretty good number, but also didn't go into detail about the plan for the other 15%.

Yes, they have said that their requests for comments from Walgreens have gone unanswered.

What's crazy is here in Ontario tomorrow they are planning on implementing curfew and only essential businesses will be open. All takeout and curbside will most likely be closed. Then I look at what's happening with the neighbors to the south and it's down right sad.

A curfew like that would be economic suicide for workers like myself. I am tightly intertwined with the restuarant business and as you can imagine....the restaurant owners and employees gwt alot of of focus but theres entire industrys built around supporting that too.
