It was just going to be a discussion on updated disney cruise policy. Seems reasonable to talk about.
Not really.... it's the same old stuff that has been rehashed and on the mask thread been told we cannot discuss. Sorry but 2 years later this is just so darn old to me. Don't like it do not go. But they are consistent. Whether needed or not is irrelevant

If a change to disney specific policy cannot be discussed, I’m not sure what can then.

The change is fine. You're missing that so many are tired of the endless who should wear a mask debate. It's 2 years old. Let it rest. That's all. Disney changed policy but is consistent with their change. Talking about why a 5yo vaccinated is okay but a 4yo who is not is what is so darn old here.

Well when masks are still a thing and a part of official policy, whether it be Disney or another company, it will be tough to rest...

Last I heard they were waiting for results on the 3 shot trial. 3 smaller doses vs the 2 from the initial trial. I would imagine we would hear about it soon but it may be less popular anyway due to the change in sentiment.
At this point, it is almost as if an entirely new vaccine for them makes more sense..rather than trying to finagle an existing vaccine originally designed for adults and 100 variants ago...

Haven’t heard any further about the trials after the bizarre “let’s do this!” then “actually…maybe not.”

Pfizer said their third shot data is expected to be ready in early April. t's not 3 smaller doses, it's 3 of the same size dose as the 2-dose kids trial, which is 1/10th of the adult dose. Moderna also has a two-shot trial at a higher dose going and they expect results this month. EUA usually takes 4-6 weeks after submission, so end of April/early May is realistic if the results pan out.

At least in my area/circle there are a good number of parents who want their kids < 5 vaccinated (myself included). But 5-12 only had about 25% adoption in my state, so I expect it to be same or less for the under 5 set. Still, I think it's important that anyone who wants to get the shot for their kids should be able to.

Let's all hope the data works out. If they have to go back for either/both of them and retest a new dose it's going to be very sad.

I'm not sure if they've been testing a bunch of doses or mostly just one now based on some earlier testing to determine the one for the longer test.

Dose determination is always tricky, especially for younger kids.

At the rate we're going, lots of 4 year olds are going to age into approval first.

Personally I don't judge. I don't know health or travel reasons that may cause some to wear. Some just are slowly readjusting again. So over this stuff.
I think in most areas it's not that big of a deal. We were at a gymnastics meet this weekend and wore masks because that's what we've been doing at meets for the past 2 years and it was habit. At some point, noticed it wasn't required and we were in the probably <10% wearing a mask. And nobody said anything one way or the other.

Last May they did a Phase 1 trial to determine the dosing.. Supposedly they came up with the lowest dose that generated the same level of antibodies as seen in adults, yet the phase III trials didn't bear that out with the 2-4 set. They have not been trialing out other dosages, so if the 3-dose trial doesn't pan out, they will have to go back to the drawing board to come up with a new dose.

As far as aging out, my 4 year old turns 5 at the beginning of June. So he will get it then. However it's more than likely he'll get Covid by then, given that they aren't masking in schools anymore, or really anywhere. :(

oh my god.

Covid is such a plague, in sooooo many ways....

Wear a mask, don't wear a mask, I couldn't care less as long as you are following the rules wherever you are at.
The End.
this!

probably shares the most useful information on a consistent and daily basis shared the updated DCL policy. No one cared. Most appreciate it actually. And a bit of discussion
I find it just as relevant as the pictures of the characters hugging the guest at DLP - which to me is good to look at. Granted each place has their own rules, but it shows that changes happen and maybe we'll see it. So I totally get why it was posted and liked seeing it - even though we're way beyond characters here and have other things in mine when we go in a week and a half.

I know nothing of your reading comprehension skills. I do, however, know that the United Nations and its various organizations including UNICEF are among the most corrupt organizations on the planet, yes. I wouldn't trust a United Nations organization if they told me that water was wet. So you can check that box on your bingo card of what you are expecting people to tell you.

Accepting that the data is correct, however, their own data that you linked says that worldwide 0.4% of Covid deaths occurred in children and adolescents under age 20. Now, call me crazy, but when children represent 0.4% of the deaths from a disease, yes, I'd say that data proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that children are at extremely low risk from the disease.
Yes they are low risk. That has already been established. But kids have died if this and if I had an unvaccinated child, I would not be taking any chances. The virus is still floating around. Hopefully this will not be true for much longer. Mom, just private me with your PO Box or address or something and I’ll mail you a few good bottles of wine for all the deleting you are going to have to do and for whatever part I had in it, although I didn’t start posting cruise line stuff in the incorrect thread.
