Riddle me this:

Does anyone know why arguing, outright political chat, and the blatant posting of misinformation that would get someone thrown off Facebook or Twitter is running rampant over on the Disneyland COVID thread, seemingly without consequence? Meanwhile, over here in our neck of the woods, we get stern warnings against this type of thing on a moment by moment basis.

If you don’t believe me, go take a look at the Disneyland COVID thread. I suggest having a drink or ten first to calm your nerves. If any of us posted any of the garbage that is circulating on that thread, we would get instantly tossed in Disney Jail, or worse.

I seriously do not get it at all. I’m a simple guy. All I ask is a little consistency.

Those posts are not reported. Please report posts you find concerning.

I may respond back but I won’t request that their speech be silenced.

You are ignoring the fact of thread rules for posting. There is supposed to be no hate or rudeness towards others posts..towards others.. no politics in a non political thread.. etc.
It’s not a case of someone’s speech being silenced, it’s there is a place for it all but not in certain threads.
This thread here has had many deleted posts, probably thousands because on occasion something takes over for a few pages, usually in good fun, sometimes not. But they aren’t COVID or Disney related so it goes.

I wasn’t saying not to report. I was explaining why if something is out of the context of the thread name, that you shouldn’t just ignore or don’t read as the poster said.

I made the mistake of occasionally browsing the now defunct "politics" forum on this website.

Let's just say after trying to sift through all the vitriolic back-and-forth in those forums, I am grateful for the mods trying to keep this subject as apolitical as possible.

Plus, one of the axioms that I believe is that when politics starts to enter debates in topics that are usually non-political (science, religion, medicine, engineering, economics, business, even food, art and culture), the needs of politics devours and overwhelms all others.

We have been trained over the years to make all of those topics political; or that they cannot exist without politics. And in here specifically, it probably doesn’t help things with the continuous shots at a certain gov.

The remedy is not to tattle on them here. The remedy is to report the posts you see as problematic.
