Funny enough I was just having this conversation with a friend. If we are going to have to live for this forever, as many people are saying, why donāt you want to go ahead and get vaccinated now so that your odds of getting it as you get older go down? It just doesnāt make any senseSide note, what's the secret all these "young and likely fine" people are using to stay "young and likely fine"?
I've never met a 30 year old that stayed that way. Eventually they all became 40 year old or had a very poor alternative.
That's the ad: You're going to get the vaccine eventually once you're in the old and frail age. Might as well get it now when it's cheap and easy. Unless your goal is to not make it to old and frail....
Oh, I absolutely agree. That there are so many refusing to be vaccinated is abhorrent.Needing bribery at all is a joke.
Iām ready for my Pfizer booster. Just say the word and Iāll get in line. Here is the prepub not fully peer reviewed Pfizer Phase 3 ( mostly ) 6 month study update (seems mostly pre delta data when South African variant was of concern). The study result show a drop in efficacy over time with 4 months since vaccinated until data cutoff the efficacy is 83.7%.(Pre delta data)
Six Month Safety and Efficacy of the BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 Vaccine
Background BNT162b2 is a lipid nanoparticle-formulated, nucleoside-modified RNA vaccine encoding a prefusion-stabilized, membrane-anchored SARS-CoV-2 full-length spike protein. BNT162b2 is highly efficacious against COVID-19 and is currently authorized for emergency use or conditional approval...www.medrxiv.org
Over 42000 participants worldwide, with about 12,000 ( not 15000) vaccinated through Oct 2020 worldwide.
My bout with covid in June as part of the study is likely not reflected because it is likely after data cutoff, as is any other subject events post data cutoff.
And the problem with long COVID and kids... for anyone how many quality hospitals are in your state? Now how many Childrenās Hospitals? The geography these hospitals serve bring there own set of burdens with the time and distance to use them.A one-in-a-thousand bad outcome becomes insignificant when there are only a handful of cases every year of a certain disease. This is why there haven't been any measles fatalities in the US for several decades. There just weren't enough cases.
But when a disease starts to become rampant, like thousands of new cases daily, those "rare" disease sequelae start to occur much more frequently. We can't vaccinate kids yet, hence I'm worried that we will start to see more MIS-C cases. Yes, most won't die of this, but tell that to the kid that has spend several weeks to even months in a hospital that its OK, we didn't need to do anything to prevent you from getting the disease, because we don't like wearing masks.
The fact that several hospital systems in the south are now reporting nearly filled pediatric wards is terrifying. Outside of tertiary referral centers, pediatric wards usually only have a few to no patients at any given time.
Me and my family, too. (Although it would be nice to get our 10-year-old his jabs first!)Iām ready for my Pfizer booster. Just say the word and Iāll get in line.
I donāt disagree. But, like the Avengers said in Endgame, whatever it takes. Itāll still be cheaper than the increased medical care costs by not bribing.Needing bribery at all is a joke.
Wishing you all the strength to deal with the rotten card you have been dealt and hoping your mother in law remains clear of COVID symptoms. Also sending a hug to the rest of the residents.Welcome to Florida folks. Where fewer than half of the 12-15 year olds have been vaccinated. Where there was little to no encouragement for them do to so. Where schools open in a couple of weeks without mask mandates, allowing the Delta variant plenty of fuel to spread at will infecting scores of parents and grandparents. Not to mention the kids themselves. Where hospitals are filling up, cases are running rampant and local officials scramble to look for solutions in a state where a whole lot of people donāt give a )&*%# about anyone but themselves.
Do I sound angry? You bet. Thanks to stubborn and unvaccinated workers at my mother-in-lawās nursing home, she and an entire wing of residents have now tested positive for COVID.
She is an Alzheimerās patient and was one of the first to get the vaccine when it became available. Fortunately she is asymptomatic so far. She and the other vaccinated residents have been moved to a separate isolated wing of the home.
The unvaccinated have all been taken to the hospital.
So a big hearty thank you to those selfish and stupid individuals who think their āpersonalā decision not to vaccinate affects only them. Bravo for standing up for your āfreedom.ā The frail and elderly among us be damned.
We cancelled our vacation last week over this mess of a state we live in. Now we have to share this latest development with our children, and try to console my father-in-law who is furious and apoplectic. And heartbroken. Thanks to the callous lack of concern we find ourselves surrounded by here. Good day
to all and if youāre not willing to be part of the solution, sit down and be quiet. Because regardless of what some may think we are all in this mess together. That is all.
It is not bribery. It is incentives for the unvaccinated that is causing the current pandemic to get shots in arms .Well this stinks. I didn't need any bribery.
President Joe Biden wants state and local governments to pay $100 to newly vaccinated Americans, using the federal aid money they received in the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
Worst part is that when this current wave naturally breaks in a few weeks, people still wonāt be bothered to vaccinate and avoid the next one. Vax rates have ticked up slightly, but are still abysmal. Time for the stick of passports. Life-essential retail and services should be verifying vaccination status if you want to shop maskless. All other leisure activities should be vax-only. I know it wonāt fly in certain jurisdictions, so then make DOT travel restrictions around the vaccine. Make an age (and VERY TIGHT) medical exemption with testing for travel. That will help significantly circumvent FLās blind-eye problem with regards to a sizeable amount of tourists arriving via air travel. Past time to get serious. And Iām past angry at about 29% of American adults. If I'm not mistaken this is Florida's 4th highest reported day. The other 3 were in January.Florida reports another 17,589 COVID-19 cases
Florida on Wednesday reported 17,589 new COVID-19 cases and 56 deaths, according to data released Thursday by the CDC. Florida accounted for 14% of the total deaths reported nationwide.www.fox13news.com
Well if it worksā¦ā¦ā¦.still immoral in my mind. Still bribery by another name.It is not bribery. It is incentives for the unvaccinated that is causing the current pandemic to get shots in arms .
Heāll just claim you donāt know what youāre talking about because you suffer from severe brain damage due to wearing a mask for years. And thatās not really a joke, he claims masks cause brain damage.
Honestly what else is left to try? You can see what we're fighting against. I'd gladly donate to the cause if more people got vaccinatedWell if it worksā¦ā¦ā¦.still immoral in my mind. Still bribery by another name.
Tax the ever-loving hell out of people who are medically able, but refuse to vaccinate. They're prolonging the pandemic and it's associated costs - let them pay for it.Honestly what else is left to try? You can see what we're fighting against.
