Can't read it.

Assuming it says high-risk vaccinated people are recommended to wear masks indoors.

Common sense.
Nope. In regards to your comment, the "some" refers to geographic areas...not risk.

From the article:

Reversing a decision made just two months ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to recommend on Tuesday that people vaccinated for the coronavirus resume wearing masks indoors in certain areas of the country.

Well then that's even more confusing. Go here yes..here no....here sometimes....

I like my recommendation better. :D
My son and I went out to Home Depot and the supermarket yesterday. We're in a low transmission area (33 new cases yesterday in the entire county of 500,000 people), but with this being the second week that the state cases increased by over 100%, I'm not taking any chances. We both wore masks...and were the only ones wearing them. I'd rather feel a little silly than catch COVID, and I know for a fact there are pockets of people around town who don't take the virus seriously. (Also note - we have a high vaccination rate, but it sure as hell isn't 100%, which is what you'd think if you assumed lack of masks = vaccinated.)

My sister has lupus. She still masks up indoors even though fully vaccinated. I understand that.

Don’t feel silly. If someone gives you “” about it, just wave and nod. They’re just bullies because they didn’t get enough kicks out of high school.

Here is the full article -

"Reversing a decision made just two months ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to recommend on Tuesday that people vaccinated for the coronavirus resume wearing masks indoors in certain areas of the country.

The change follows reports of rising breakthrough infections with the Delta variant of the virus in people who were fully immunized. But the new guidance would mark a sharp turnabout from the agency’s position since May that vaccinated people do not need to wear masks in most indoor spaces.

As recently as last week, an agency spokesman said that the C.D.C. had no plans to change its guidance, unless there were a significant change in the science. Federal officials met on Sunday night to review new evidence that may have prompted the reversal, CNN reported on Tuesday.

“I think that’s great,” said Dr. Celine Gounder, an infectious disease specialist at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York. Based on what scientists are learning about the Delta variant’s ability to cause breakthrough infections, she said, “this is a move in the right direction.”

The C.D.C.’s initial guidance in May said people fully protected from the coronavirus could go mask-free indoors, but recommended that unvaccinated people still wear masks. Those recommendations drew sharp criticism from some experts, who said it was premature given the vast swaths of unvaccinated people in the country.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the C.D.C.’s director, at the time pointed to two scientific findings as significant factors. Few vaccinated people become infected with the virus, and transmission seems rarer still, she noted; and the vaccines appear to be effective against all known variants of the coronavirus.

A day after the announcement, the agency released results from a large study showing that the mRNA vaccines made by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna were 94 percent effective in preventing symptomatic illness in those who got two doses, and 82 percent effective in those who had received one dose.

But those data, and the C.D.C.’s decision, were based on infections of previous versions of the virus before the Delta variant began sweeping through the country. Reports of clusters of infections among fully immunized people have suggested that the variant may be able to break through the vaccine barrier more often than previous iterations of the virus."

You know my stance on this, I am pro vax, have been vaxed for a while now, BUT.... the CDC is just not handling this correctly right now.

"Some vaccinated people" "certain places" the message right now is really bad.

Should be all or nothing. Trying to thread the needle here and its not going to work IMO.

Do they say who the "some vaccinated people" are?

Because those choosing to be unvaccinated and not follow rules have created a breeding ground for the virus, they put EVERYONE at risk of a new variant that potentially evades the vaccines/immune system or that could be more deadly.

The epitome of selfishness.
Bingo! That's it in a nutshell. It's as if those who don't like vaccines are allowing the virus to mutate, and then saying "hey, look, vaccines are not working". Backwards logic to support an ignorant and selfish mindset.

It's also worth noting that vaccines, while absolutely effective, will have less effectiveness if individuals are exposed to higher virus levels. If you have 5 vaccinated people attend a crowded event with 1000 unvaccinated, unmasked, not socially distanced people who have been to other similar events, those 5 people have a higher chance of contracting the virus due to viral loads alone. Those 1000 people have a MUCH higher chance of getting the virus while circulating among similar ignorant people. However, the 5 vaccinated people are likely to have diluted effects of the virus due to the antibodies circulating. The 1000 people would stand a greater chance of being hospitalized or worse-ESPECIALLY going to events with other infected, unprotected people.

Lol ok what does this do ?

Those certain areas are not going to listen.
How is that relevant to the CDC? They set recommendations based on what’s happening real time. They shouldn‘t not recommend something because some people won’t follow it. If that was the case they would have never issued any guidance at all. I agree that the local and state governments in the areas most impacted likely will do nothing, but that shouldn’t stop the CDC from issuing guidance. You can lead a horse to water….you can’t make them drink.

What this does do is give nation chains and places like WDW some guidance to consider. Even if FL or Orange County cannot or will not set an indoor mask requirement Disney can. Not saying they will or won’t, but they have claimed to be following CDC guidelines. It also gives individuals guidance. If I visit WDW and the CDC is recommending people in FL return to indoor masks I’m more likely to do that even if it’s not required.

I agree. Trying to thread the needle at this point (after seeing how many just don't care about anything but their own comfort) is ridiculous. Masks for all indoors. Period.

In answer to your question, they did not. They indicated "some areas of the country", but no specifics yet.

There is no message from the CDC on this yet, just a news article talking about what the CDC will say. I expect the actual guidance from the CDC to be much clearer.

We only got a couple of odd looks at the supermarket. Most people smile at us. (My son is only 10, so I'm assuming they think I'm masking up in a show of support.)
I don't understand why people care. Unless they think your unvaccinated? Not sure why people even look though, unless you have a super cool mask.

CDC if true, really is kind of silly. People who felt the need will mask up. This will only further vaccine hesitancy if they announce "it doesn't work" This is where policy makers are failing us.
