In a few days Canada will surpass the US in vaccine doses administered per 100 people. (Ie total doses 1st and 2nd) combined.

That creates an interesting scenario for the border. I think personally we’ll have one more month (until August) for them to wait and see.

At this point, with a possible election looming, I think the border reopening will be based more on internal party polling than any other metric like vaccination rates.

My friends are all now getting their second dose invites. I should get my invite on or around Friday.

Um, its like, all natural and stuff.
I always get a kick out of people who say that.
I'll tell them "poison ivy is natural."
Most people have no idea that the plant kingdom is loaded with chemical defenses.
Or that even though there are good components in many plants, burning them and filling your lungs with smoke is not beneficial.
Like I said, people are very selective.

I never quite understood how the leap was made from "it's OK for terminal cancer patients to smoke marijuana to provide some level of comfort and reduction of chemotherapy side effects" to "marijuana is a medical miracle and can cure everything and even might make you healthier if you use it."
I call it "pot smoker logic."
Ever talk to someone who gets high a lot?
It's both frustrating and comical.

In the medical world "Do No Harm" is a standard carefully followed. Any potential harm from prolonged prescribed marijuana use would not negatively impact the patient before the terrible effects of the disease that is afflicting them. Marijuana cures nothing. Healthy people gain nothing. As far as COVID19 goes I ask What Is The Connection?

The connection is that @GoofGoof made a comment about people who would take a party drug without a second thought are worried about what a vaccine contained. The thread kind of veered off when @Heppenheimer mentioned a vaccine resistant patient who was a marijuana user.

Yeah, I wasn’t even talking medical marijuana. Many people take all kinds of recreational drugs, either smoking, injecting or inhaling, but they have no real idea what’s in them or what the health impact is. I‘ve seen some of the same people then turn around and say they’d never take a vaccine that’s not fully approved or hasn’t been proven to cause no long term impacts. It shows me that the reasons given in a lot of cases are not sincere.

Yes
Here's things will open 100% capacity with no more masks and social distancing as COVID-19 cases will go enough low.
-Nintendo NYC store
-Cinemark, Regal, AMC movie theatres,
-NJ Transit / Amtrak
-Tourney events
-Gaming events like E3 2022
-San Diego Comic Con 2022
and more!

Even GAMEFAQS can't control themselves either.🤪

What he’s saying about this makes sense to the point of it almost being common knowledge. Any future outbreaks or “surges” will be hyper-regionalized in areas of low vaccination, like Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Those that got vaccinated in those regions will remain just fine.

The bottom line remains: get the vaccine.

I hate to say it, but if there are widespread outbreaks in areas with low vaccination rates that just means there will eventually be a lot more natural immunity in those areas. It will take a lot longer and will likely be much more tragic than just getting the vaccine, but as I’ve said for a while now, we will get there eventually…in some places the hard way. Herd immunity will eventually be reached one way or another as long as the virus doesn’t mutate to the point that immunity from vaccine or natural infection is lost.

I'm scared if the virus will mutate will getting worse as expecting as variant escapes from vaccine, then the world will be doomed:eek:

The good news is that so far it hasn’t happened. The virus has been in widespread circulation for 18 months now and while it has mutated some, it has not mutated enough to cause issues with any of the vaccines we currently have approved. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen, but it’s certainly not guaranteed or even likely to happen at this point. The US and some other nations are in great shape as far as vaccinations, but the rest of the world is very far behind which definitely leaves the door open. The key will be making it through the next 12-18 months. By that time we should have a substantial percent of people worldwide vaccinated and countless more naturally immune. Without any vaccines at all the Spanish Flu pandemic ended on its own and this one would have too eventually. We are just speeding that up with vaccinations.

Spanish Flu didn't have the incredible volume of people traveling and mixing, either. The amount of out of state license plates I saw this weekend was back in line with pre covid numbers.

UK now increasing to almost 23,000 cases in one day - the massive upward curve at nearly 50% week on week continues. Equivilent in USA would be around 100,000 cases a day, and if the rate continued you would see 200,000 cases the week after.

The UK had around 2000 cases last month, with a mass vaccination programme and then opened up most of it's economy.

The USA is around 2-4 weeks behind the UK with the Delta Indian Varient.

Horrific numbers.

While I have enjoyed outdoor activities and lawn concerts recently without a mask, I'm still going into stores with a mask on here in NJ. I'd say the number is about 60-70% masked in stores, even with the state mandate lifted weeks ago.
At work, we have "vaccinated" badges for those that volunteered their info freeing them from needing to wear a mask indoors, but unless one is in their own cubicle ( tall cubicles so a little better) , most with the badges are still masking in public places like hallways, cafeteria, and certainly bathrooms, and folks are still keeping distances of what I see of about 5 feet. Not 6, but better than pre-covid of 2-3.
I gotta say, over the past year or so, I have certainly broken the common habit of touching one's nose/face without thinking about if my hands have been washed first. Not a bad thing.

Horrific, it depends.
You will catch the covid even if you are vaccinated.
If there is 400 000 people with the covid, but with less than 10 deaths/day, it is a success.
So now we have to take a look to the deaths trends, hoping for a slow and low trends.
