The numbers just continue to amaze! Last year many states set a requirement that if one visiter another state that has a Covid19 rate of over 10 per 100,000 would have to quarantine for 2 weeks. Well today there is just one state with a rate over 10, Wyoming with 12. Washington and Colorado have 10. Even batter the US average number of cases is now 16,270 which is less than 5 per 100,000, 4.91. Yes, we are now at less than half the old magic number of 10. Florida is still above the national average at 8 but is dropping too. Another great number is the NY Times also lists the top 100 counties with Covid19 and to make that list only requires a rate of 15 per 100,000. How long will it be till that gets down to 10? We are driving this horrible disease away. We are winning and before long every state will be at 10 or less, then 9, 8, 7, 6 and hopefully by the end of June less than 5. Thanks to everyone involved in Operation Warp Speed and those who refused to believe the so called experts that said we wouldn't have a vaccine until July 2021. We not only proved those experts wrong we basically eliminated the worry of Covid19 before they said we would start mass vaccinations. Never deny the ability of individuals to do amazing things when given the opportunity, never accept group thought and experts knowing better. Always stay optimistic and never underestimate Americans and Europeans that developed our vaccines.

I went to a free outdoor concert near me last night sponsored by the county and they had a tent setup there offering the J&J vaccine. They got 12 people vaccinated before the concert started. Not bad for such a random place to being doing vaccinations.
It’s good to see the plan in action. I know it triggers some people to see so much effort being made to get people vaccinated but I still say I’m good with whatever it takes. Better to make the extra efforts like this example and get the percentage higher than doing nothing and then stomping around having a tantrum over why people should want the vaccine on their own.

If they are getting it done in Vegas, can't see why WDW cannot, outside of the expense? The Vegas method is currently pretty pricey in labor, but with the prices Disney and those casinos charge, they can still make a profit.
I had read somewhere that Caesars opened their buffet as “self sever” about week ago. I think it was the first one back with full self service. Before that others had opened with staff serving all the dishes. At WDW a lot of the buffets had recently reopened as family style which still requires increased staff to bring the food out to the tables so repurposing some of those serves to serve behind the buffet is probably nearly a wash labor wise. I think they We’re mostly waiting to see the desire of guests to do a buffet. If guests want it (I think most will) then I think they will change it over at some point this Summer.

Edit: I did see that Disney set dates for opening the club level at some resorts this fall into winter. I assume they will offer self serve food at that time.

Our zoo is offering vaccines on certain days to those who want one. Interesting ideas but hey if it gets mode, why not?

I signed up in two spots for trials and I didn't even expect the vaccines to be this quick or this effective. I give a ton of credit to scientists more than anything and loads of thanks to every single person in trials or studies. OWS helped here with red tape, but my real thanks goes to science.

Discussions beginning on how to bring back the b-word.

Buffets.
Yuck... sorry I know many like them, they just aren't my favorite.

Regarding the Caesars buffet, they are "self server" but quite a great deal of things are pre portioned on small plates which the customer simply takes off the buffet and are replenished as needed. This though is certainly more labor intensive than just scooping items from a large serving dish.

Per Fauci: masks only necessary if sick. WDW should change their policy.

Illinois is finally getting around to starting a lottery. I hope it helps convince holdouts. We are doing great, though. Positivity rate is down to 1.5% and falling every day. Almost 42% fully vaccinated, but I believe we're getting close to 70% with at least one shot.

Over 50% of adults are already full vaccinated in Illinois, so that's great!

"The White House on Thursday unveiled President Joe Biden’s plans to share COVID-19 vaccines with the world, including its intent to direct 75% of excess doses through the U.N.-backed COVAX global vaccine sharing program.

The White House has previously stated its intent to share 80 million vaccine doses with the world by the end of June. The administration says 25% of doses will be kept in reserve for emergencies and for the U.S. to share directly with allies and partners.

The long-awaited vaccine sharing plan comes as demand for shots in the U.S. has dropped significantly as more than 63% of adults have received at least one dose, and as global inequities in supply have become more glaring."

I am surprised that folks have not commented on Joe ditching his signature mask, he has been sans mask lately. What he does is more interesting than what he says.

Israel's 7 day average is now down to 16 cases per day. That's under 0.2 per 100,000. They are averaging 1 death per day.
Per capita, it would be the same as the US having 528 cases per day nationwide, and about 33 deaths per day nationwide.

Yes, it is possible to virtually eradicate Covid with high level of vaccine adoption and the proper health measures. (and I believe they haven't even started vaccinating kids in Israel yet).
