COVID is real but don’t worry Joe will fix it.....
It’s a worldwide pandemic. Nobody can fix it, but we can do better. I thought this stat was pretty telling... of the 367 highest counties per capita for new Covid cases 93% voted for Trump. I think there is definitely some correlation to a President who denies the science and downplays the virus and surges in cases. Maybe it was just all the rallies and stuff in those areas leading into the election but I think it’s more than that. People’s attitudes are shaped by what they hear and especially a population that is blindly loyal to a political leader I think it made the situation much worse. Will those people listen to President Biden now? Probably not most of them, but it can’t hurt.

Our numbers have been going up too, lately. An indoor hockey match in Montpelier has now been linked to over a hundred cases. I'll save my rant against the "sports at all costs" types who would have organized such an event.

My hospital still has no in-patient cases since the spring, but its only a matter of time until we have another.

As to why we kept our numbers so low for so long... well, I don't have time now, but I'll go through the factors later. Some are unique to Vermont and would be difficult to replicate elsewhere, but most of the other reasons are the same things we've been talking about for months.
We had some outbreaks linked to Ice Hockey in my part of PA too. Apparently a few men’s league teams had multiple cases and several of those guys were coaching youth teams so there’s something like 75+ people in quarantine with a bunch positive and the rest waiting to get tests back. I played hockey my whole life and love the sport, but it’s indoor, the locker rooms are tiny with lots of people crammed in together and even sitting on the bench its pretty tight quarters. We didn’t have issues with outdoor fall sports like soccer and football and they moved fall swimming and water polo to outdoor pools with heaters. I am curious to see what they do with basketball when that ramps up. It’s possible they could move it outdoors but with snow and ice not easy to play a season at the playgrounds outside. Tough call.

In Vermont, I would like to see all hockey moved to this location:

By early December, the lake is usually sufficiently frozen for hockey. The speed-skating track around the lake usually needs a little longer until all the fissures in the ice close off, though.

That’s awesome...so jealous. Usually a couple of days a winter it gets cold enough to play outside if we are lucky.

My son’s swim team has drastically changed practice protocols and have done some pretty innovative things with meets. Luckily for other families US Swimming has allowed the modifications for those kids who’ve been close in the past to regional qualifying. What a crazy trip this has been.

I think compared to how Trump has "handled" it I think we might now have a chance to "fix it".
If Joe coulld fix it he would stand alone amongst the leadership of Europe. How come no one has been able to 'fix it'. Under Joe and Obama 60 million people got swine flu and they did 'everything wrong' - just lucky it was a relatively mild disease. Maybe Joe has created a vaccine during his stay in the basement.

"Disney has rolled out new signage at many attraction entrances banning eating and drinking in the indoor portions of queues. As seen below, guests are reminded via a trash can sign that they are not allowed to eat or drink “beyond this point” when in attraction queues."

I've seen some panic about this, mainly because people aren't processing the indoor queue part of the message. The lines are moving relatively quickly by all accounts, so it shouldn't be a problem once you hit the queue building or structure.

Right, with spacing in lines and no FP+, you are unlikely to be in an indoor queue more than 5-10 minutes.
I'll play devil's advocate and double that. If you can't go 20 minutes without nursing a bottle or straw or whatever, you likely shouldn't be in Florida any time of the year. We're entering mild season, so...
When we visited in August, it was honestly a struggle to "steal a drink" in line, place the mask, cap the drink, and move in a timely manner. Lines just moved too quick then and seem to still be doing so now. Just wasn't worth the headache and we gave up after a few tries. More hassle than it was worth.
I also interpret this as more strength to the CM to enforce mask policy to the belligerent who would rather push the envelope than help everyone enjoy things as much as possible.

I think those are case rates, not deaths.
You are correct that is infected people per capita, 1 in 30 people in the red zone are positive with covid19.............still quite disheartening and scary.
Wait for Dec and Jan - - the real flu season.
Something drastic needs to be done to change your countries curve in the right direction.
Praying for you all. 1/4 of a million people have died in less than a year.

Sadly, I'm now seeing people on other sites and social media who were all aboard the "it's going away on 11/4" train now flipping to the "here come the inevitable COVID-19 power grabs" train as if they weren't still claiming on Monday that nobody would care about it as soon as the polls closed Tuesday night. I can't tell if it's a coping mechanism to trick themselves into not worrying about it or if there has been a drastic increase in people who will buy into any Alex Jones type of conspiracy theory that comes along and are willing to just change arguments midstream just to avoid admitting they were wrong.
People are dying almost 1/4 million in less than a year.
This will not go away after the election - - - lives matter, everyone here. Come together and do something about it. On a national level.

Better than saying it will go away on its own. Virus' do not work like that.
Who ever is in charge I hope they do something you ALL deserve better than doing nothing.
Montana finally voted to legalize recreational cannabis. If they use Doritos/Twinkies delivery, maybe people will stay home and help this fizzle. ;)
For real, though, we need better messaging from the top and a better grasp on localized action. The only thing the election will do to help is be over so we can focus.
