Yeah but how much living did they do in lockdown?! /s
As someone from Melbourne now living abroad but obviously following events and having Zoom calls every week with friends and family back home, I honestly feel a little proud that the state government made the hard choice for lockdown. As context, they faced relentless criticism from the Murdoch press that dominates Australian media. It was hard for everybody living in lockdown, but I think for the most part people understood that short term sacrifice was worth it to protect the most vulnerable.

Where I live in the Netherlands, the attitude has been much more laissez faire. If Americans want to feel better about problems in their own country, I think this blog post gives a nice analysis of how mismanaging COVID-19 has been framed as a point of national pride in the Netherlands: https://www.leidenanthropologyblog....rity-the-cause-of-so-many-covid-19-infections

I agree, nothing is 100% effective, so let’s not jump to blame Joe for Bruce’s COVID.
Yes, nothing is 100% effective, but it’s not about blaming anyone IMHO. We can and should all do what we can to slow the spread, but everyone who was infected ultimately got it from someone else except maybe some guy in Wuhan who got it from a bat (allegedly...lets not blame the bat either;)).

What inherent immunity?
I doubt this is what he is referring to, but this study found 37 people with SARS-CoV-2-specific T cells even though these people had never had SARS, COVID-19 or contact with individuals who had SARS and/or COVID-19.

This is a nice in vitro study and a classic example that the general public and common media is not very science literate.

Most doctors aren't even willing or able to be armchair immunologists. This study is as clinically exciting and relevant to the Pandemic as saying Tylenol is the cure because it makes people with COVID-19 feel slightly better.

Wait, is that a study yet? Dibs.

Sure. Here’s the clarification. Your magic voodoo lockdowns. Your dark ages level NPIs, they don’t help. They destroy society, they destroy lives. They CAUSE excess death, they don’t limit it. If you are on board at all with lockdowns, YOU are the one holding the untenable moral position.
We just follow orders in my house and anybody on the boards that knows us would tell us to keep doing what we're doing

No I joined because I have a trip planned for the spring. Clicked in here assuming some info about WDW would be here. BIG MISTAKE.
Well if that’s the case the main thing to know is that Disney World has laid off 90% of their entertainment staff. The rides are running with reduced capacity, no fastpass. That means you’ll wait in a line for all rides, but you shouldn’t wait 2+ hours like in normal standby. Many restaurants and shops are closed, and the ones that are open have modified menus.

Masks are required in all public areas of Disney unless in an area where you are allowed to eat and drink and you are “actively eating or drinking.”

Most people feel safe at Disney with temperature checks, plexiglass on rides, and masks being strictly enforced.

Did I miss anything?
Oh yeah... have a nice flight! (Quote from soarin).
