Yes- Florida is getting complacent again just like when they rushed to open because our leaders said ‘we’re doing much better than the rest of the country... then boom
On the bright side Disney seems to have their act together so better that people are going there then having big parties or going to a restaurant/bar and sitting there for hours with no masks.

true, but the downside is then these people get on planes, go back to their hotels, other places. The people who have died as a result from that Maine wedding didn't even attend. They got it from someone who attended.

Since March, it seems like every week is 7 Sundays. I never even thought about it being Labor Day weekend until I saw something on the news the other day.
It hit me trying to fly back from Cali Thursday and all the flights were oversold. Oh yeah it’s a holiday.

The majority of people are probably local. Large numbers of people aren’t flying in yet. If everyone is wearing masks and distancing in the theme parks then there’s less risk of them going back home infected. The wedding involved a large group not wearing masks together for hours. That’s a recipe for disaster. Dining is still an issue for WDW but the holiday weekend surge is mostly local people anyway so they probably aren’t all eating indoors at WDW.

"SeaWorld Entertainment revealed Friday that it will not bring back some of the thousands of workers it had furloughed earlier on in the pandemic.

In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that came just before 5 p.m., the Orlando-based company said it had “committed to a plan of termination, impacting some of the company’s furloughed employees.”

It did not specify how many workers were permanently let go or which parks were affected but said the company will spend somewhere between $2.5 million and $3 million “related to employee severance costs.”

At the end of 2019, companywide there were nearly 11,000 part-time and 4,300 full-time employees."

“Substantially all of these employees were furloughed as part of the company’s efforts to reduce operating expenses and adjust cash flows in light of business circumstances associated with the COVID-19 pandemic,” the filing states. “Due to the sudden and unforeseeable economic impacts of the pandemic on the company’s business operations, that were not reasonably foreseeable at the time of the temporary furlough, the company has determined that it will transition certain park and corporate personnel from a furlough status to permanent layoff.”

Fox News was reporting that the Sea World staff that will be laid off that are on furlough will be notified by email on their job loss and be given four weeks severance pay.

I agree that people need to be responsible for themselves, but this one is on UOR.

I have to say I sincerely disagree. Universal has been open. Correct me if I’m wrong, but much like Disney, the policy is to socially/physically distance from others while on property. That falls on those attending a theme park (or leaving a theme park).

I also fully acknowledge that Universal is also at a fault, but those attending are in choice and Universal, although choosing to be open, sets parameters and those in that photo aren’t following what’s being asked of them.

I’m also completely bias in my belief of people should just stay home, regardless of what’s open or not. So that also plays into my belief shared above.

The lucky ones who happen to have employment. Many have a furloughed or permanent vacation at this point. To celebrate Labor Day is to have a job.

I was explaining to someone from the UK that it is indeed a three day weekend holiday in the US and what holiday it was.

You took that as an opportunity for an ideological rant.

Do you ever wonder why you get involved in so many heated back-and-forths here?
