As somebody who has worked for Six Flags- there is a 0% chance they pay their employees during the closures.
If that is the case they will lose 2 members and a stockholder. Of course, my stock isn't worth much anymore. Norwegian Cruise Line joined DCL on closing for 2 weeks.

I fall under the high bp category. Long term high bp, since I was 21 years old. I am only 46 and always told with my high risk to get a flu shot. I am going as little places as I can until they know more. Also just in case I canā€™t get them thankful that I have a little over 3 months of meds as it also regulates my heart beat. I HAVE to have them.

We are very similar! I've had HBP since I was 20 and am 39 now. I eat a whole food plant based diet, walk and run, and do everything I'm "supposed" to, but unfortunately, the HBP remains. I am with you on the meds. I have enough, and our pantry is full. My husband also has heart issues, so we're being cautious. I already work from home and am self employed, and he's a stay-at-home dad, so thankfully it's pretty easy for us, all things considered.

Stay safe and healthy!

I am a stay at home Gigi, but husband and son have to work and go into homes daily with Utility work. Luckily, they are both healthy.

You guys stay safe and healthy too!

Two big things I heard. Waving maximum number of beds and length of stay in CAH and altering some rules governing patient care areas inside all hospitals.

6 flags is already near bankrupt. They don't have the cash Disney does to be able to do such a thing. Is Universal doing this?

What are your thoughts if in 2 weeks Disney says "That's it, we will no longer pay cast members."

Guessing everyone else just got the email from Universal confirming they'll be closed Monday until (at least) the end of the month.

As with WDW, Resorts and City Walk remain open.

Can confirm that the letter sent to employees has no mention of being paid. Although it says some employees may be called in for random shifts during the closure.

You can read into their statement whether they're going to "screw" them all you like. All I know is what is in their statement which doesn't sound "meh" or not knowing enough to me:

"The Walt Disney Company will pay its cast members during that closure period."

Like you said... 'All you know'

And like I said... 'there is a lot of wiggle room in the statements made'.

How many hours are employees going to be paid at? Many employees work to get more hours or overtime if possible...
Many employees have shifts based on schedules such as entertainment... What schedule will they follow to decide what hours people were going to work
Many employees rely on tips as a significant portion of their pay... What model is Disney going to follow to pay that portion of pay?
How about staff that are really contractors - Are they going to get the same level of protection?

Point being... there is a lot of ways employees came come up short compared to what they would have been expecting otherwise.. and that's even if Disney were doing a decent model to pay folks. Reality is, you're dealing with a HUGE labor force that is dynamic and not a simple salaried force where it's easy to just make everyone whole.

ETA: Nevermind what the impact will be even after they reopen. The 'new world order' after a huge shutdown could mean a huge reduction in hours and staff. No one should assume people are getting out of this unscathed simply because an employer promises to pay people.

You should absolutely go to secondary care if you have symptoms of corona.

"they won't even see you"?

Of course they will.

Let the healthcare system actually be a system, instead of demanding that every case is life or death simply because it is yours or impacts someone you care about.

I know it's a terribly difficult stance to take, but not every case is life threatening.

For all the people who demand that "professionals should decide", I get the feeling they also want to be first in line.

That isn't how it works.
This is what my primary care office is suggesting:

Please note: If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, you can use JeffConnectĀ® for a telehealth consult with a Jefferson doctor anytime, anywhere through your cell phone, tablet, or computer with a webcam. Plan ahead and be ready ā€“ read the CDCā€™s resource list for your household.

They prefer you do a virtual visit and if you may be infected they donā€™t bring you into the office. I was just at the office last week and they ask you a series of questions upon arriving relating to Corona. If you answer ā€œyesā€ and there is a chance you are infected they refer you to a testing location immediately. You canā€™t stay because they donā€™t want you infecting the other patients or doctors/nurses. Especially important because the high risk people who are elderly or have certain pre-existing conditions regularly visit their doctor.

People do die from the common cold all of the time. It does suck that we have another virus but you could in fact compare it to the complications of the elderly or those with compromised immune systems getting very sick. If we can prevent it, of course we can try, but those less densely populated states have no known cases. An honest question, no condescending tone intentended, at what point do you consider the disease burned out? Do we close everything down once there are a few hundred cases? Do we give up liberties out of inherent risk? It is a slippery slope.
Well given the longest time on record thus far for a person to recover from the virus once they had it was 37 days.... If you wanted to end it as soon as possible by letting it burn itself out before it infected everyone on the planet you would need to have everyone self quarantine for 74 days, double the longest time to get over it. Do that and execute anyone breaking the quarantine and you would be free of the virus... But that isn't going to happen because we would never execute someone for breaking quarantine which means some people would break it and that would keep you from really making sure it was gone.

All buses now only serve Springs. There's one every 45s. šŸ˜†
So, the hotels still have the same number of questions, but now instead of having them spread out among all the parks they are now being funneled into a single area Disney Springs... Hmm... not sure this is the best plan, it seems like the only result you would get from this is an increase in the infection rate as people are going to be in even closer proximity to each other.

Would seem that the best option for any guest would be to get a mask, wear it when they arrived at the airport and not remove it until they got back to their home.

23% of Italy's population is over 65 years old and it's the older and already unhealthy that are at risk. It's apples to oranges to paint with a broad brush. Italy has a much greater chance for dire consequences based on their population. That's why they're doing that. The media is making it out like it's an automatic death sentence to all who get it. It's not. You literally have a 99.5% chance of living. That's hardly something worth the general population getting in a tizzy over. If businesses want to do what they feel is best for them then I have no problem with that but it's the fear mongering coverage of it and the idiots that get their "news" from social media that are making this teeny tiny mole hill into Everest meets McKinley. I'm not a gambler but I would almost bet that not one single person on here knows one single person that has this. I also would bet that most people on here eat unhealthy in general and have zero fear of diabetes even though it kills hundreds of thousands every year. So does heart disease. So do strokes. So does cancer. Yet how many are taking drastic measures to fight against those things that kill WAY more people every year AND day than this thing will ever dream of. I understand people fearing the "unknown" but this thing is so out of proportion it's not even funny. WHY do people need stockpiles of toilet paper for a disease that might make your nose run?! It would be like saying "well my diabetes is taking my eyesight so I guess I better stock up on every book in the library..." People are acting irrationally.
As a 42-yo type 1 diabetic, who watches EVERYTHING I EAT, and DO know a parent who tested positive, whose child attends school with my sons, I am extremely worried. I live in one of the biggest epicenters of the outbreak of this virus (Kirkland, WA), and now have to worry if any form of cold/flu my kids have is a result of attending school with this other child. So your comments are hugely offensive and ignorant at worst and inflammatory at best. While this isn't going to "kill" my kids, it can greatly affect my health and the health of my mother, who is an ER nurse at one of local hospitals--she too is a type 1 diabetic with other underlying health issues (and over 60) that put her at risk.
My kids schools are on a mandatory 6-week closure, my church's services are cancelled, my husband is working from home (and I count that as a blessing because I know many can't); every facet of our life has been disrupted. One of my "fears" is that there will be a shortage on insulin or my other diabetic supplies! I don't think I'm making this into "mountain".
I'm really glad that you can count yourself (and apparently all your friends and loved ones) who are 100% healthy and don't need to have any worries or fears that someone else could unknowingly pass this virus on and affect your health. Maybe realize that there are others out there who DO have underlying health conditions and/or loved ones who do where if they contract this virus it could be detrimental to their health.
