After following this thread for so long and being unsure of whether my trip starting tomorrow would happen, it is finally here! Still almost doesnt feel real eventhough I'm all packed and checked in for my flight.. Everything in the US is crazy right now and the covid situation isn't in a good spot, but I absolutely believe WDW is fine to be open with the current procedures. I couldnt be more excited to be there.
Have fun and stay safe!

Haha. I guess not surprising. Although their recent efforts over the last week to mitigate have diverged a bit so we will see what happens. Also, Florida doesn’t have freakin Houston AND Dallas AND San Antonio to deal with at once. So who knows, blah..
It’s going triple digits this weekend into early next week in Houston and Dallas so hopefully everyone stays home and stays cool.

Enjoy yourself, wear a mask, and avoid contact with anyone over 55 or with health issues or anyone who might come into contact with anyone over 55 or with health issues for 14 days after you return.

My parents said the same thing haha, fortunately I live by myself so it'll be easy to stay away from people after I get back. I fully intend to wait the 2 weeks after my return to visit anyone.

Notice that his death rate for 7/9, the day of his tweet, was where the spike occurred? Funny how fewer people die on the weekends too... LOL. He seems like an agenda with a spreadsheet to me...
The numbers are sourced from the FL Dept of Health. There is always a weekend reporting lag. There are also provisional vs final numbers.

What is meaningful and what he is pointing out is the rolling 7 day average is rising.

Have a wonderful time. We all need an escape. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my August trip.

Have a great trip. Let us know how things go. So far during the preview days every report I’ve seen said the rules have been followed and enforced 100% of the time. Seems like they are taking it very seriously so things should be as safe as possible.

Even if WDW were operating as it always has, I wouldn't go anywhere near it (or Florida) right now. But walking around in the heat with masks, worrying about cleanliness, distancing, things operating half-****... Nope. It's too expensive for an "experience" like that. Locals, passholders, sure. More power to ya. Maybe next year, Disney.
I’m with you there. I moved my trip from this August to next August. I’m just praying that things are much better by then...if not there will be much bigger problems than my trip to WDW :(. Best case scenario is they have a vaccine before then, if not at least we will know much more about the virus, likely have better treatments and hopefully have better testing and tracing in place. If the situation has improved dramatically there may not be any masks or distancing or things cancelled. I’m hoping that’s the case, but it’s still tough to think about losing a whole year, but we’ll get through it and it will be that much sweeter when I eventually get back.

I’ve seen a lot of positive coverage on local news so far on WDW opening. Lots of video clips provided by Disney during the CM and AP previews. There’s a lot of emphasis from the reporting on how much emphasis there is on safety protocols. Even CNN did a report on how it’s probably safer at WDW than most retail or other local locations due to the increased emphasis on masks and distancing and other safety protocols. I was expecting more doom and gloom from the media due to the spike in cases. Disney so far is doing great on getting the positive PR spin out. So far so good 👍

It’s terrible. I love frivolous nonsense... silly blockbuster movies during the summer film season, HHN and AK, museums and restaurants. And all that is simply gone for a year and quite possibly longer. We have no idea when all those dumb pleasures - not to mention a lot of bigger, more deeply important things like schools and a stable economy - will be safe again. And we’re stuck here because a lot of people couldn’t see beyond their immediate desires, lied to themselves and others to ignore unpleasant realities, failed to take the very simplest precautions. There was a path forward and we didn’t take it. It is absolutely infuriating.
