If that chart showing 5,420 deaths is correct then they still have a higher number of deaths per capita then the US. Are you posting that because you agree that they handled it poorly?

They are now in single digit per day of deaths. Their pandemic is over. There is also this....

Sweden did an abysmal job protecting their LTC facilities. Worse then even NY or NJ. 75% of their deaths are from long term care facilities.

Now we see this chart, and Sweden is having a normal year of deaths, the LTC patients, where the average time from check in to death is 30 months, have been disproportionately effected by this. They could have done much better there. And should have.

Not saying they are perfect, but in terms of lockdown v no lockdown, at worst, it’s a draw. And IMO the tie goes to no lockdown bc it doesn’t come with the same side effects as lockdown does.

I won't dive into whether or not I believe now is the time to reopen WDW. But from a marketing viewpoint alone, I think this did a good job of communicating: "We're doing this, but it's still a very dangerous world today, so please be safe!"

Nothing misleading or hinting to let any of our guards down. My local park, Dollywood, literally ran a campaign saying "Better Days Are Here" amid our spike in the community and not long before our town buried a girl in her 20s. Thankfully they scaled back on those ads and are voicing more of a We Welcome You SAFELY message like WDW is doing.

Whether or not you agree or disagree with reopening, I think we all can agree it's a responsibility to not encourage the public to get lazy and scoff at this pandemic when out & about.

Their economy is also shrinking as much as the neighbouring countries... and the idea behind herd immunity is also not working. Only 7.3% of the people in stockholm have antibodies... they hoped it would be 40% by the end of may. They paid a big price for their experiment.

I think this is the kind of analysis that will be done more extensively when the dust settles on this pandemic from both a public health and economic perspective. It will be very interesting to see the final results.

People watch the news to affirm their own beliefs not to actually get news.

There are actual real journalists in the news section of both Fox News and CNN. Where the news goes away is when you get into the talking head prime time lineup. The Hannity and Don Lemon types. Unfortunately they get the better ratings so now it’s morning shows and evening shows and some in between. There’s few and far between times where actual news is the priority anymore. It’s like the WWE of news broadcasting. Wrestling is a real sport, but the WWE is a bunch of people pretending to be playing a sport.

I'm impressed by Chris Wallace of Fox who asks the tough questions and gives more than honest opinions. The Hannity, Lemon, Cuomo, Tucker rant and raving is tiresome but they are very well compensated for their drama shows.

The news doesn’t exist to inform the public. They exist to sell advertising space to the highest bidder. There’s a few half decent journalists out there, but you have to dig for it.

The death of print journalism was really the death of true journalism overall. In the past the concept of journalistic integrity meant you had to be certain before printing a story. If the public lost faith in your integrity then you lost subscribers. With Twitter and 24 hour news now its about getting the story out first not worrying about it being correct. The talking head shows take it a step further. They know that the real news isn’t always sexy or exciting but a good conspiracy theory will be so they run with things they know aren’t true to get ratings. It’s really the public’s fault for not only accepting it, but embracing it fully. The really sad part is there are people who watch those shows and actually think they are getting the news. That’s when it gets dangerous.
