Think for yourselfer
Three months in Italy where you couldn‘t travel between regions. I mean, did you see the videos of Italian mayors screaming at people for even being outside? They took it SERIOUSLY. :)

Your German example had a three-month phase in and they’re still not where Florida and Texas were. And you certainly have a much stronger pro-mask environment there.
It’s not my example. It’s yours. And holding Italy up as what TO DO. Sheesh.

I have said it before, but I truly believe that we will in fact see a full lockdown from multiple states in the coming weeks. Texas is struggling with hospital capacity, Arizona is in a dire situation, and many populated areas of CA (especially LA) are about to be in a dire situation, these states are all starting to recognize and adapt to the situation that lies ahead.

PS who knows WTH Florida is doing.

Some may disagree but Florida is the butt of a lot of jokes.

At least as of yesterday:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said Tuesday that his state is “not going back” on reopening as thousands of new COVID-19 cases continue to be reported every day.

DeSantis told reporters that the state will not follow Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) move to pause reopening, according to Axios.

“We're not going back, closing things,” he said. “I don't think that that's really what's driving it. People going to a business is not what's driving it. I think when you see the younger folks — I think a lot of it is more just social interactions, so that's natural.”

So I'm feeling good about my trip still happening.

I can’t figure out why this is difficult.... if we are uncertain about a disease that has killed so many, so quickly I’m going to personally take precautions. I see no point in risking my life for a meal in a restaurant.

I had hoped the numbers would be such that I would feel comfortable traveling to either Montana, Arizona or Alaska this summer... but I’m not sure about public transit right now.

But remember Disney made the decision on their own to close, Desantis didn't have to tell them anything.

AND governors who said the same thing that Desantis is currently saying have backtracked.

I think it's more likely that Angelo721 either didn't actually read the article, only looking at the headline, or assumed nobody else would bother to read it.
At this point I have trouble being so generous. The study so old and has been corrected repeatedly since it was first publicized. It's a number that has been repeatedly played up by those trying to deny the severity of COVID-19 in the wider population.

It really feels like we're going around in circles now...

If it becomes horrific for FL, there should be leaders that allowed this to be ready to be handing in their resignations.

You know what's funny?

I just said there are a couple hospitals with some concerns. These same hospitals run with extremely high capacity in their ICUs even without COVID. Houston is the 4th largest city in the US. But to say Texas is struggling with capacity is an overstatement. There are concerns with capacity eventually being a major issue, which is why steps have already been taken to assist with this. Bottom line, the state has issues it needs to deal with. No need to exaggerate them.

eh. That is an overstatement. There are a couple hospitals with some concerns. But the state has been proactive over the last week or so to ensure capacity doesn’t turn into a major issue.
They started pulling levers like postponing elective surgeries which should get them over the hump and worst case scenario they have overflow capacity in stadiums or arenas. Staffing might be a bigger problem than space. It’s not sustainable long term, but not anywhere near the point of panic right now either.

Staffing is a problem in AZ as well - Gov. Ducey today requested another 500 medical personnel from the federal government.

What defines horrific? NY levels? NY went full lockdown, FWIW. And that went extraordinarily poorly. So if Florida eskews lockdown and winds up in the same place, who was right and who was wrong?

If they end up in the same place and I had to choose, I'd rather take the path that has me able to visit WDW...

They are exactly the model to follow for countries that fail to contain it in the first place, take the right strict measures at the peak of the outbreak, and have been able to get to a place where they can safely reopen without a massive spike. It’s costly, you don’t want to get out of control in the first place - but in terms of squelching the forest fire once it’s burning down the forest, there are worse models. Which was the point. They did something we utterly failed to do.

Except, of course, in my home state for the time being. :)
