The problem is that they haven't found any yet. Everything is still in study phases. How we deal with the virus has not changed since the beginning of March.

the virus has different effects on different people, and many different combinations of drugs have been used to shorten and eliminate symptoms. there really hasn't been a catchall combo, but definitely ones that have worked.

I think they picked July to not only give them time to prepare, but also time to make changes if there is another spike. We won't see the results of Memorial Day for another 3-4 weeks and if in fact there is a spike, it would be easy for them to say "we cannot open now."

I also think they wanted to avoid July 4th crowds

i'll take luck over waiting 2 years for a vaccine that might slow down the effects by 24-48 hours like the before mentioned tamiflu (which is a joke).

I have a feeling that is just a small taste of what the lines will be in the parks come July. You’d have to pay me to go in those conditions, especially standing idle in the blazing sun wearing a mask.

That is not what vaccines do and Tamiflu is not a vaccine.

To compare the symptoms of COVID-19 to colds and headaches is wrong on so many levels.

To be fair, for some those are the only symptoms they get.

tamiflu shortens symptoms by 24 hours. 1 day. my son was administered tamiflu during a trip to wdw at the local ER. But the damage was already done, he'd been at disney for 5 days, touching everything. who knows how many he infected.

Flu has a vaccine AND meds to "shorten, lighten, alleviate symptoms in the regular supply chain".

No it’s not.

Math is hard with big numbers so here it goes...

There are ~330,000,000 people in the US.
10% would be 33,000,000 *Rates seen in Italy
5% would be 16,500,000
1% would be 3,300,000 *Global rate claim 1-5%
.5% would be 1,650,000
.4% would be 1,320,000 *CDC rate claim, excluding deaths not tested/counted

So 1.3 million people would die if we let .4% of the population die. It sounds, small, but .. math.

Take also into account that older people and people with underlying conditions (overweight, obese, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc) have the highest chance of death as well, and lets be honest - there are a lot of both of those groups that exist in US.

The age factor -

48% death rate for 75+
22% death rate for 45-77
3.9% death rate for 18-44

That doesn't include the ones with ongoing life long impact to their bodies because instead of death they had strokes, heart attacks, months on a ventilator, etc.

So again, please tell me how my number was wrong?

I was pointing out that symptoms can vary from person to person regardless of the cause. Please show me where I compared covid to colds and headaches directly.

And...it only works on the flu - not covid...
