I can't see Phase 1 lasting long. There's no way with millions of people coming to Florida and what is accessible to do this longer than they can collect data and keep it moving. I get folks that are 65 and older having some sort of guidelines but the numbers up to age 45 is statistically low. I'm not talking those with underying conditions.
Looks like FL is largely following the federal guidelines so minimum 2 weeks of phase 1 but could be longer.

DeSantis says he's hoping the phases are "weeks, not months" but will be based on the data coming in.

In Ga they are testing thousands more people per day than they were several weeks ago so of course there will be an increase in cases. The death rate has not increased though, its actually slowed down. And thats not even mentioning the fact (yes fact) that many deaths in which covid is not the cause of death are still counted as a covid death. And Governor Kemp was going off several data models, not strictly the CDC's. And can you blame him? The CDC hasnt had their act together from day one.

I believe that those who are ready to begin to open the country back up are absolutely in favor of doing it safely, slowly and with all precautions necessary. The fact that they are no longer allowing themselves to be terrified by every boogey man story the media presents is why they are consistently labelled as dangerous and painted as people who just want every sector of society to open the flood gates of doom and despair.
My friend who is a ER doctor in Atlanta told me that if I got my head blown off by a semi automatic weapon and tested positive for covid it would be listed a covid death. Harsh I know but she was venting !

I’m very pleased with his conference and what he’s doing. It’s driven by data which is the way I feel it should be done. We’ll get there quicker this way than jumping the gun and having to deal with numerous set backs. I don’t know what this means for the parks as it’s been noted previously that they can set their own pace. Even if they open sooner rather than later a good foundation is being set by opening slowly for at least a month. It appears starting Friday we can leave the house. I’m planning on driving to the Port if one of the Disney ships is in to take some pictures.

this is very similar to phase 1 for texas that kicks off on May 1st. We are aiming for phase 2 on May 18th which would increase capacity to 50%. Stressed the important of 2 solid weeks of data.
I’m not advocating speeding things up, but it’s very hard for a restaurant to turn a profit even at 50% capacity. The only good news is they can still do unlimited take out business so the increase in takeout over normal times should somewhat help but I still think some will not be able to open.

Please share if you have pics. I read a report that several thousand crew members are still living on cruise ships docked outside of Florida because FL does not want the crews to enter FL.

You know what's funny?

I have no doubt some may not be able to open at this capacity. But as you mentioned, if they are already open for to-go orders, it may work out for them. Have to start somewhere. It is nice to at least give them the option.

Most of the restaurants around here have tried to adapt to take-out/delivery, and locals have been trying to support them whenever possible...hopefully they're able to slowly gear back up for dine-in service again.

I will. We watch the port cam each morning to see which ships are there. My son actually got a pic from someone when three of the Disney ships were close together. You’ll never see that again.

I don't know the answer. If someone says "the media", well that could mean anything or anyone. Do you just mean the media you disagree with? Why not just say that?
What part of my original post makes you feel that I dont trust any particular media outlet?

To be fair. I have actually found restaurants have dramatically improved in food quality and lowered prices. Walmart is the cleanest i have ever seen.

She's actually right. That's how the funding is coming. Go in with a heart attack, test positive for Covid, die from heart attack, listed as Covid.
