Lol. I meant going to the parks! Good grief, I don't want to be "that guy". Sorry everyone.
I haven‘t had my coffee yet:) That makes much more sense. You still get to keep the gold star ;) There may be less strollers in the parks too. I know if my kids were toddlers and in that “put everything in your mouth phase“ I wouldn’t be bringing them to a place like WDW.

Check-in June 27! Can't wait! No South American student tour groups. Almost zero scooters. About .28% of the guests will be positive. That comes out to 140 of the projected 50,000 people in the MK having it. The odds of me standing within 6 feet of one of them for 15 minutes are exponentially minimal. My family and I are young, fit and have no pre-existing conditions. The parks will be cleaner this June/July than they've ever been. Most of the virtue signalers won't be there. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO! Keeping my fingers crossed that this happens.

June 7 check in, July 3 we are looking forward to less crowds as well it will be a nice change.

It’s in the requirements from the county:
  • Remove all guest collateral items, except for those that are single use
I assume the dispensers stay they just remove the large bottles and return to individual small bottles.
I'm assuming Disney removes the large bottles and suggest guests either bring their own or purchase needed items in the gift shop. Prehaps offer small bottles until existing inventory, if any, is depleted.

Industry standard is to offer complimentary items like toothbrushes, tooth paste, razors, shaving cream sometimes even items like contact lens solution. Some guests may forget to pack an item others may run out. I threw out my travel toothbrush and forget to replace it. I asked at the front desk at a Universal Resort. Asked if I needed anything else. I had the option of getting it for free from the front desk or paying at the gift shop. Disney doesn't follow that policy.

I don’t think they will start giving out free stuff like toothbrushes, razors or shaving cream but it would be really easy to go back to individual bottles of disposable shampoo. The manufacturers are probably sitting on a boat load of spare inventory since hotels have been mostly shut down for over a month. The recommendation is also not final so could change and they said only for phase 1 and 2 so when FL moves to phase 3 they could go back to the big bottles.

Universal hotels are run by a hotel chain (Loews) and WDW is not. That is the difference and why they anticipate your possible needs. Curious, do WDW hotels have a ticket desk in the lobby or do the front desk personnel handle that?

It’s amazing how different perspectives work. I’m reading this forum from the U.K. and it appears in the USA that nearly everyone and everything is raring to go. I hope that is true and as safe as possible and am rather jealous of your outlook. The BBC stated today that there are more victims of Coronavirus in the USA than the total number of US soldiers who died during the entire length of the Vietnam war. Checked figures as best I could on the Internet and it appears correct. Just found it an amazing comparison and wondered whether it had been used over there. Whatever you do please stay safe and if you get to WDW please have a dance, socially distanced of course, down Main Street on my behalf.
the number is 58220

So, I had to use the subway for the first time since the shutdown and standing on the underground platform in a mask (even in the still relatively cool weather we're having) was stifling. So many people had their masks down. What this portends for being in a large group when things get really hot (which can happen underground sooner than later) is erring on the side of unbearable.

I'm not sure what is hotter conditions, the NYC subway platform that has no AC or heat in the NYC dungeon of subway platforms or walking on Hollywood Blvd at DHS in the middle of August. Both locations, you see and smell the "unique" athmosphere.

You know what's funny?
No intention to compare cause of death but simply an an illustration of the quantity of deaths. A little like comparing the length of a blue whale to being longer than an NBA court. Makes an image clearer.

between 600 and 700k Americans die of heart disease each year. Is that a comparison that makes more sense? Maybe, maybe not. To me, it doesn’t. That’s why I don’t like these comparisons. It is weird that the some in the media decided to use the Vietnam comparison. I guess because that is the number that was just passed? Seems strange.

If N95s or equivalent are available a side benefit is cutting out the odor. Hmmm. Maybe masks for WDW could have a long term benefit apart from the virus.

Overview of another Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force meeting this morning -

"In todays call, Chuck Whittall, President of Unicorp, read a statement that was put together after discussions with Thomas Mazloum, Senior Vice President of Walt Disney World Resorts and Transportation Operations. Here’s the working draft that Whittall ran by Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings:

Theme parks and other venues of that magnitude shall each develop their own specific and unique set of guidelines following the CDC recommendations and using best practices that will protect the life, health, and safety of their employees and guests. They will be permitted to open at their own discretion with their internally determined level of safe capacities throughout the various [reopening] phases.

Whittall went on to say that he believes that the task force should put a reopening timeline in the hands of the theme parks. He went on to note that theme parks will be judged by not only the marketplace, but also on social media by guests who either decided to visit or stay away."

"Dr. Barbara Jenkins of the Orange County Public Schools noted that the language discussed above shouldn’t allow the theme parks and other venues to reopen before whatever date the Mayor announces for the general public. That point wasn’t met with any friction from the task force, so while Disney and other large venues will be able to determine their own phases, it’s unlikely that their reopening would preclude a general reopening for the county."

Wow. I guess the guidelines released yesterday ruffled some feathers at the mouse house. That’s a big turn around from “here’s what it will take to open” to “it’s up to you to do whatever you feel is necessary”. I guess the big in room soap dispensers and coffee makers can stay after all ;)

It is an interesting world we live in when social media reactions are an important part of policy decisions.

i think it’s the other way. Disney didn’t like the proposed guidelines put out yesterday because they are way too lenient with what Disney needs to open with. Disney doesn’t want to set expectations that the parks will be similar operations when in reality there are going to be significant changes for months to come.

Wasn’t president josh part of those discussions though? He’s on the taskforce.

That could be. The recommendations were always just a minimum standard so there was always a chance Disney or Universal were going to do more. The mention of social media was interesting too. Using this thread as an example most of the talk yesterday was about how the capacity limits were a huge negative. They don’t need to follow that now.
