I just booked a first time trip for me and my wife to stay at Coronado Springs. Is there anything I need to know about the hotel or amenities. . . any advice on this hotel would be great. Thanks!

It's HUGE. They offer a golf cart shuttle to get to the main area where the food is. The Disney transportation stops along every few buildings, so you're really not far from a bus stop.

The pool is fun. The bars serves strong. The restaurant always looks like it has a line, but it moves very quickly. They do have wait staff at the food court to refill drinks and so on.

That's about it from me in a quick nutshell.

Have fun.

It's great for families with kids because of the fact that there are not many other kids running around and when you take the busses to the parks there doesn't seem to be many strollers around. Also, the foos at the Pepper Market may be a little expensive, but its alot of food. there is really no need to buy a refillable mug of your going to spent alot of time away from the resort because there is a fridge in all the rooms ( FREE) and you can save $ on drinks. It is very large but hter is more than one bus stop and the theming is great. ther are hammocks in different parts of the resort and a fitness center which never seems to be busy. And the pools are great and almost always empty.:sohappy:

Stayed there in '98 (the year it opened). Nice theming, fairly quiet, could be a pretty good hike to the food court or bus stops unless you request a room closer (we didn't know that at the time - wiser now.) Wasn't too fond of the food court - thought it was very chaotic and disorganized. Expensive, too, but if you're on the Dining Plan, so what!!

ive just got back from staying at coronado springs.

i loved it,like someone said earlyer,it is massive!.
the rooms were nice,my bed soooooo comfortable.

as far a meals go,the pepper market,is awesome for breakfast.if a bit pricey
and if ure willing to spend a bit,id try the maya grill,we did n it was awesome.
but if your on the dining plan this isnt a problem.

for fun there is one main themed pool which is pretty cool and each section of rooms (they are all separated by different mexican names like cabanas, ranchos and casitas or something) and each block has a quiet pool.
there are also hammocks and things on the beach over looking the lake.

at the marina you can rent a variety of boats and water vehicles too play on the lake with and you can also rent surry bikes and push bikes too to ride around the hotel complex.

its location in my opinion is awesome, literally 2 mins away from blizzard beach, and about 15 20 minutes to AK,DTD,Epcot,MGM and MK.

all in all its a good hotel and i thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.
hope you have fun too.

I'll echo a few sentiments.

The place is massive. Huge! There are golf carts for you to hitch a ride, but they aren't always there when you need them. When we stayed, we were all the way on the other side of the complex from the lobby and restaraunts, so we had a lot of very long walks.

Fortunately, there are a lot of bus stops, so you're never very far from them.

The Pepper Market is pricey, but very cool. Some people apparently find it a little confusing. When you enter, they will give you a card for each member of your party. You can go around to all the different stations and place orders for whatever you want. When you place an order, they stamp your card like a passport. After your meal, you take your cards to the register and they ring you up. Gratuity is included in the prices (which is part of why it is pricey.)

My one gripe is that there is not much in the way of cheap, counter-service food. There is a bar at the pool that serves food, but the hours aren't great. And we had a bit of a bad experience with a bartender when we tried to order food without realizing that food service was closed. No big deal really, but the guy treated my wife like an idiot when the sign was somewhat misleading. Not what I expect from Disney.

The grounds are beautiful. The pool and the playground are really neat. My wife enjoyed napping in hammocks on the man-made sand beaches. And to offset the bad experience with the bartender, we had a really magical experience with most of the Corando Springs staff. One guy in particular got our trip off to a great start by giving my daughter an unexpected gift when we arrived.

You'll love it. Just be prepared to walk!

We liked the rooms. We thought the grounds were pretty and loved the pool. We only liked Pepper Market for breakfast and it was a little on the pricey side. I don't remember why we didn't care for the place at dinner though (it was awhile ago) but we did eat the a few times or breakfast.

The Maya Grill is one of the hidden gems on property. Great food and great prices. If you're really hungry, go for the Mixed Grill. Filet Mignon, Mahi-Mahi and 1/2 rack of ribs. All 3 are great. My favorite appetizer is the Crab Chalupa. And the pepper bread with Chimichurri dipping oil is amazing! Have a great trip to my favorite Moderate resort. I stay there twice a year, yet I live less than 20 minutes away:)

We stayed at CSR last year and I do have to say it was a beautiful resort, Very big. Not many complaints from me except the fact that the resort is also a convention center, so theres always some sort of trade show or that type of thing going on. So it can get quite crowded with buisness Men and Women, and it can be very frustrating trying to get a seat/table at the bar. Other than that its a great resort, and i would go back!

Oh yea I wasnt a big fan of the pepper market either, I didnt like the way it was set up with the waiters and waitresses and the card that you have to carry with you to the counters when you order food. So on top of the expensive food, there was also a tip involved. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.

I agree that the Maya Grill is great. Don't forget to try the Seafood Margarita :slurp:.

One of our favorite things to do after a day in the parks was to stop and get a margarita at the bar and stroll back to the room while enjoying the absolute beauty of this resort at night. Make sure you stroll in and around the Castitas buildings. There are beautiful fountains hidden between buildings that cannot be seen just walking the main path.

Question about Bus transportation there. How long from the resort does it take to get to a park? I am a little nervous about this and thinking of switching to Port Orleans since there is also a boat that goes to parks. Is that right? What is the closest resort at a moderate value to a park? Is there one that is within walking distance?

Transportation there is better than any park on property hands down. You will rarely ever have to wait long to get to a park and usually you dont have to stand either.

The buses for CSR are probably the best on the property. Since it is a convention resort, most resort guests aren't going to the parks. Therefor you can pretty much get a seat every time. We had the same seat everytime we rode to or from CSR and never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. The longest ride was to the MK and that was only about 15 minutes.

Be prepared to walk if you don't use the shuttle service to your room from the main building. At night it is peaceful and the scenery is great!

The food court is a little on the pricey side but we used our snack credits in the store and took things back to the fridge in the room. Also, the CMs have to fill you refillable cup with a beverage, not you.

The transportation at Coronado is probably the best of all the moderates.

There is no boat from Port Orleans to any parks. There is a boat from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney.

Coronado is pretty much centered in WDW. It is the closest to AK, and MGM/Epcot are fairly close. MK would be the farthest of the major parks.

None of the moderates are walking distance from the major parks.

Coranado is the best choice transportaion wise.

We loved Coronado and had no problem with the size, conventioneers or even the way the Pepper Market was set-up.

We liked that you could take a nice stroll around the grounds and sit out on the Hammocks. We were opposite the main pool so that was a distance, but nothing extraordinary. We thought the food was decent (it is counter service) at the Pepper Market and the portions were huge. The only real complaint we had was the person they had scooping Ice Cream for the dessert seemed confused about how to scoop Ice Cream or how to use a can of whipped cream.

We really like the look and feel of the place.

To address the bus service. IT IS GREAT!!! We were there in September and the resort was pretty full (though from the size it did not feel that way). We hardly ever had to wait more than 5 mins for a bus to come and it was rare that we ever had to stand. The longest trip was to the Magic Kingdom and it was only 20mins. Epcot and MGM are about 5 mins. Animal Kingdom maybe 10 mins and Downtown Disney about 12. It is a very centrally located resort. The fact that it does not share busses with other resorts is a big bonus.

As a contrast when we stayed at the Beach Club the busses were often shared with the Swan, Dolphin and Boardwalk. That added a lot of time and crowds onto the trip. At CS once the bus has made it around the loop at the resort it's off to the park.

Have fun!

I just stayed at Coronado 3 weeks ago.

POR is definitely my favorite moderate but it was all booked up so we decided to try Coronado. It was nice & big. We didn't eat at the food court but one thing that was a problem for my family are the lack of ramps at some of the buildings. I have a 2 year-old that still uses a stroller. To access some of the buildings, you have to go up a few stairs. I'm not a big fan of lifting up my son & his stroller so I found this to be a little annoying. Other than being really spaced out, we actually liked it very much. Our room was nice and the bus service was fine. Being so far away from the main building influenced why we didn't visit the food court.
