Coronado Springs.... What To Expect.

So I like everyone out there took advantage of the free dining in September. When we went to go and book the room they had no value resorts left the the only moderate was Coronado Springs, so we booked it. Here is my question, what difference are we going to see in the room itself???

I have looked at many pictures down there and the exterior looks nice and its got one of the coolest pools I've seen. Are the rooms bigger? Do they have anything that you wouldn't find in a value resort?

I have also noticed that most of the buildings seem to have balconies, but that's in the limited views that I have seen. Do all of the rooms that are not on the ground floor have a balcony?

Thanks Everyone!

There are NO preferred rooms at the Coronado. You can pay extra for a water view, but there are no preferred rooms. You can simply put in your request at time of your reservation to what building you would like to be in, etc.

I just looked at the email and you are correct. It is labeled as "water view" and she said that there was a note put in to request a specific building.

Also if you prefer a Kingbed over a double then you must request that as well. If you are on the DP and eat at Pepper Market use the dessert part of your meal for a pastry and have that for a light breakfast. It worked great for me, you could also use your snack credit there for the same thing.

CSR is my favorite of all the resorts. We stayed there in September last year and chose it over Pop Century simply because of the busses.

There are 4 or 5 bus stops at CSR so you never have to walk to the main building to catch a ride to the parks. Also, since CSR is a convention resort, you will often find the busses empty because people stay on the resort grounds for their meetings. Because of this, most convention guests will be put in the buildings closest to the main building. Other WDW guests are often put in rooms across the main lake.

Something that no one mentioned yet is that CSR has free transportation around the property. Simply go to one of the sidewalks on the inner side of the buildings and wait for a golf cart to pick you up. No tipping!

You will also need to know that most of the buildings do not have elevators. Request a room on the main level is this is a problem.

I think you might be wrong about the elevators. We have stayed at CSR six times and five of those six times we were NOT on the first floor and I know we used an elevator each stay.

This is my first time using the Dining Plan. I thought it was broken up into snack, table service, and counter service. Can you break it up into just individual courses?

For example: Can I skip the desert for my table service and get a pastry in the morning instead?

I did not know that it broke down that much.

I know for sure they don't have them in the buildings with only 2 floors. Possibly the ones closer to the convention center do but seldom do they put regular WDW guests there unless they request it or are filled.

We have been in Casitas 3, 4 and 5 over the years and I know they all had elevators. I don't recall ever staying in a building with only two floors.

Beware what "water view" stands for.... We stayed at CSR in 06, paid for "water view" and got a far away room facing a small, small pool. Get it? Water. I immediately asked for a different room, which was accomodated the next day with a great view of the lake with the hamack pictured by a previous poster. My husband and I spent a late evening looking at the moon perfectly position between the trees.

As for the food court, we too experience very poor employee service and morale. The fitness center was the main reason we chose CSR, being the only moderate that had one.

The Cabanas and some of the Racheros are only two floors. I believe the Cabanas are the only buildings without elevators. (They're essentially copies of the CBR buildings and the POR Bayou buildings, just with different external theming)

It's not exactly "breaking it up". You still have to purchase all of the items at the same time for your counter service (entree, drink and dessert). What the poster was suggesting would be to get something as your Counter Service dessert that you can save and eat for breakfast the next day. Alternatively, you can use a Snack credit to purchase something light for breakfast, like cereal, a bagel, muffin or danish.

You have to order your dessert and save it for the morning. Pepper Market has a great bakery selection. I had ziplock bags that I stored my muffins in for the next morning. You can also use your snack credit for most individual food items in the gift shop. It worked for me but may not be suited for people who are used to eating a full breakfast. I prefer coffee and fruit or toast, real light. I even had cheescake for breakfast one day, just ordered my dessert to go after dinner and bam! instint breakfast food..lol

Actually, on another board that I read, someone just returned from CSR and were on the second floor at Cabanas and they had an elevator.

and a question to the original

it has been almost 10 years since i have stayed at the CSR... i love the CBR but my daughter suggested that i try CSR once more... i was wondering if they have a cabana setup similar to CBR, i am sure they do, and if so which would you say is better? i enjoy sitting at the cabana and having a drink or two and just chat with others there and what is your opinions. by the way i was just on property for 12 days for our 100th trip and will definitely be back there in early december (where i am considering either the CBR or the CSR) and perhaps also in mid-october.
